Default What compression for sts

Just bought an sts kit with a gt67, methonal injection, no intercooler but I plan to add one...

Im in the process of trying to figure out what compression to run. I know that lower is better because I can get higher hp with 93 octane.

I have been trying to figure out the compressor map for a 347 block.

My big problem is I dont want to go too low of compression because I dont want to change turbo's.. It seems if I go lower compression it will have to work the turbo harder to get my hp which will be bad for my smaller turbo

I have been thinking about 9.5:1 or maybe 9.1:1 compression... does this sound about right?

My goal is 600-650 rwhp.. Maybe not even that much..

Unless I am wrong... Blocks dont have compressor maps... turbos do.

IMHO I would go somewhere close to your 9.1 with your goals. Get that FMIC too...

I'll agree with you bud. 9:1 should work out okay for you. Don't wanna get too low, like you said, losing power under the curve. 600rwhp I believe is obtainable with that turbo, look at longrange, he's the man with the 67 trim!

I think he's refering to consumption charts for the 347. You can find one close to the 347 at the link below in the sig and check the Turbo help section.

Where you shift should be determined on your power curve... I used to shift at 5200 with my 67

Holy ****! 5200 I can see Im going to have problems alreay. My vig 3500 is too big.

Do front mounts run up to higher rpms? Maybe thats why I see lower ets with higher hp with the sts kit

With nitrous I could run 10's with 500hp.. With the sts kit it looks like It takes 600+ for low 11's

Im thinking about adding a small shot to my kit.

Yea I think you need ~600 RWHP with a STS for 10's. I was at 607 and was trapping 10 sec times on a shitty track. I could have had high 10's with my old setup at a good track.
