Default new t-70 but no v-band

Just got my new t-70 today and the 3" V-band outlet isn't on it. Do I have to weld one? Who sells the flanges? and how much does it cost?. My old exhaust housing will work if they both used p-trim wheels correct? The old housing only used 4 bolts to hold the turbine side on. The new one uses 6, does this matter?

The same thing happened to me. I ordered the v-band clamp from burns stainless (burnsstainless.com) and had a local metal and welding shop put it on. The welder had to put on a small section of pipe in order to do it. I'v only got this one picture of it, sorry it doesn't really show it that well, but you can kind of see the welds...

Seems odd you would get a housing with no attachment means.

That is REALLY strange. They really expect you to have to weld the freakin V-band onto the housing? Most people don't weld on cast iron, they don't realize you have to preheat the **** out of it and let it cool slowly.

I've got a buddy at a full on machine shop, he'll weld it on. But it was wierd the place I bought the turbo from told me that, the manufacturer, had put the wrong housing on the turbo. He said he'd sent it back and get the correct one. But I was too impaitient. Oj well my vacation starts tommorow and I'll drop it off and a few hundred $ later it'll be done

Pre-heat, controlled cooling, and the proper filler metal is all it takes. I/We have done it before. Just take it to someone that knows what's up with welding cast and it'll be just fine.

Welding cast iron is really not that bad, but aren’t turbine housings actually some funky steel alloy (not that it would be much harder to weld)?

That not withstanding I’ve seen those housings before where you have a round area, a grove and another round area but no real flange, bolt on or v-band and have always wondered what the original intention was for attaching an exhaust to it.
