Default How restrictive is it to run stock manifolds?

I'm hopefully starting on my front mount next month. I was going to make my own headers but the thought of saving a **** ton of time is intriging. Are the stock f-body manifolds to restrictive? Or should I get a pair of shorty headers? I'm not doing truck mani b/c I will have A/C.

My goal is 750 to the wheels. So, I'm assuming they aren't advised. Thanks.

We have seen good success with stock ported and coated manifolds.. They have less surface area than headers, so heat is dissapated less, which is what you want in a turbo setup. Would they do well on a 800+ hp car, I dont think so, but for a street car they will do just fine

Okay, so he only has 8.70s potential instead of 8.50

Seriously, i dont think there muck or any true flow difference.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe you can flip the stock LS1 manifolds facing foward in an Fbody....clearance wise.

That's a pretty bold statement to make without any hard numbers.

I'm not flipping them. I plan on using them how they are designed to be run and then making the pipes face forward. after the flange.

take it from someone whos built 5 trillion turbo setups..and not been satisfied with 4,999,999,999,999 of them. Use truck manifolds.

Are you saying flip them forward like most do or just use them in general? I don't want to flip them for the loss of A/C. This will be a street car and street cars to me have A/C

if thats what you want. In reality what youre planning on doing may not work out too well with the routing of Downpipes and such, while still having ground clearance, and still making power.

So then I'm stuck with making my own headers I guess.

not necessarily..i was gonna run twins off of stock manifolds with a small flange adapter, basically imitating the incons, but i didnt want to deal with scavenge pumps and such..so i just ran truck shorties, a huge single, and a 4 inch Dp over a stock k member. No AC though.

I believe you could run a flipped truck manifold on the driver's side facing forward and run another pipe from the passenger manifold around the back of the pan merging into the driver's side hot pipe in a "Y"......TTi street kit style. You can keep A/C that way.
