Default V band inlet exhaust housings???

Wow how come these types of exhaust/turbine housings aren't more common???

Seems like it would be easy to package that a bulky T4 or T6 flange especially on a TT application where space is tight.

Pretty cool, thought it might warrant a post.

Beyond that, are the turbine and compressor sides of that turbo v-band flanged together?

When I had my TV series Garrett (just sold) I couldn't find an exhaust flange to save my life. Had the clamp but nobody had the flange. Even Dave at Majestic couldn't come up with one.

My turbo kit came with turbos that use a V band clamp to connect the down pipe to the turbine...it has worked flawessly and I can have the down pipes disconected in 2 minutes using a deep set 11mm socket with speed handle or air gun.

Jason and Jose have built a few of those units. They mostly come off aircraft engines I believe.

Yeah, most turbos these days have a V band on the OUTLET side of the turbine to connect the DP to, but i've never seen one with a V band on the INLET, its usually a T4 or T4 etc...rectangle flange that bolts up with 4 bolts.

Dr Turbo, any chance of producing the exhaust housing like these for your everyday turbos?

The first pic I saw of them was off an older F1 car and searched from there to banks' website.

I would guess that with a 4 bolt flange, making supports for the turbo would be a bit easier ???

But it is an excellent idea. It would greatly simplify things if both exhaust inlet and exit were v-banded.

While on the topic....

where's the cheapest place to buy v-bands ?
