Default Pinning Crank...ATI guys

Ive been reading up on the pinning kit from ATI. I was wondering, can you just pin the stock pulley/damper to the stock crank? Would that be safe for 8#'s of boost and lower? Or do you HAVE to buy ATI's damper...I know FI isnt cheap, but I dont want to have to throw 400$ where its not needed for small boost levels.

Thanks

You can do that, I have mine pinned at 11 to 12 lbs. I used the horizontal kit from I think Tbyrne.

You can pin the stock crank. Run a search over on the truck forum, there are some good posts regarding what items you can buy. I'd run the list but it's been a long day.

Most of the truck guys run them for the Magnacharger kits, but it should be the same

I think the horizontal ones are the stronger one. There is more material to hold it from turning. The other ones drill straight in from the side and you only have the diameter of the pin itself holding it. IMO

Remember to buy yourself a 12 pk. It takes a while to drill into a crankshaft! Might want to snag a drill bit sharpener too...for sure a SLOW-speed variable drill (< 750rpms)

Mine didn't take very long to drill. I was actually surprised at how fast it went.
