STS Kit... YUCK!
My friend just put the STS kit on his LT1....not impressed at alll....the kit is giving him more problems then the amount of money he spent on it....the ground clearance sucks....you'll rip your turbo right off on a drive way...the power seems to be decent...when your car is actually running correctly....if anybody has it and perfected it plz let me know...bc he is going out of his mind

nothing that complex is going to be put on and run correctly out of the box. it takes time to work through the minor problems associated with FI. it took me about weeks to iron out the issues on my car but since then (march 06) it runs like a scalded dog. tell him to keep digging and better info on his problem might help.

Re: Sts
Hey Buddy. I had the same problem with the STS kit on my 94 lt1. I only had 2 1/2" of ground clearance. It was really low. Plus I needed a couple pipes modified to keep my subframe connector and moser 9". I had to take it to a shop to have them raise that turbo. It's exactly at 4 1/2" now. ALL and ALL the kit was well worth it in the end. The power is awesome. - Later - Mike

Call or PM Billy (TRTPerformance) and ask him for hints or tricks on mounting it higher. The only pipe I have ever even made contact with was my charge pipe that has to go under the front k-member... and I only scratched it slightly... no other clearance issues ever. Oh and 11 Seconds flat on stock LS1 block... that speaks for itself.

I'm not sure there has been a person on this forum that has more problems w/ the STS kit than myself (that's what you get when you hire boys to do a mechanics job). My car runs pretty frickin' strong now that everything has been dealt with. I wouldn't trade the STS for anything. well, maybe I'd give it up for a C6 Z06...or a Viper. What problems aside from the clearance is he having? I bet you I've had that problem before.
Longrange, How many # were you pushing w/ your setup when it got the 506rwhp. You had your cam in on that pull right?

went 10.8 myself in mile high air. Gotta get the bugs worked out. My turbo is WAY high up compared to most. 1320, who built my setup, supported the turbo against the gas tank heat sheild, welded it up then let it drop and it is now 1/4" clearance from the tank, perfect.

Yep, took about 5 months to iron out all the details.....still tweaking the tune (or at least was till going to the Middle East for an unwanted vacation).
Either way, the feeling is well worth the effort. I can kick the living crap outta my dad's modded 03 Cobra...... What's more to say than that?
For help, try contacting Billy at TRT Turbo. Hes good people and will help you through just about any problem right over the phone.

thats what I did too Zombie. pushed that sucker up there and welded away and let it drop. sits nice and high. anybody with one of these kits that has the turbo hanging low just didn't take the time to install it right.

the turbo has never been the lowest part of this setup. the charge pipe under the left lower control arm has always been my low point, if anyone has a fix for that i would be interested.
