Hi guys-i'm swapping the 6 speed for a RPM level 5 4L65E in my Z06 next year and need some feedback on a stall converter. Car is daily driven and will will be tracked whenever possible. Mods will be a 346 D1SC/Meth-currently at 650 rwhp but will step up to 700 with more boost on a forged motor. Cam is a small 220/224 115, rear gear is a 3.42. I've only contacted Yank and Precision-Yank suggested there SC 3000 or there PY 3400-Precision wasn't much use only telling me there converter goes for $920 bucks and I can go with 5 clutches if i want to lock it up in hi-gear. What have you FI guys experienced and what do you suggest?

Pro Yank 3400 without a doubt, I just put it in my car and I am very happy with it and its good for 1000 hp

No I haven't talked to Neal chance-do they have website. That PY3400-what will it flash to off the line punching it on a car like mine-curb weight is 3440-maybe 3500 when the auto goes in? It doesn't feel lazy or anything cruising around town does it?

What about a PY3600? I like the lower STR of 2.2. It won't hit the tires so hard on the launch.

Vortech it will flash to 3400 like advertized but it will hard till 3400 then let your boost climb.

I used to have a tci 3800, this verter hits harder it just doesn't flash as high. it has perfect streetability, literally drives like stock. its fucken awesome.

the verter made me realize how inefficient my TCI was. I now feel like I have more power up too.

Like Urban Legend said its the perfect converter, i talked to him before my purchase and I have no regrets whatsoever. Driving my car is fun now, especially with my hard hitting Century trans.

Thanks guys-it sounds like the on to use. Does anyone have any track times with the PY3400 in a 346? Mike from Yank also suggested there new SC3200 as well-I think the STR ratio is lower.

What about the PY3600-it has a lower STR ratio-this should be better on the street as it doesn't hit as hard and alos better at the track if you want to use DR's. Alos the lower STR should help with MPH on top? Any thoughts?

sounds like you've done your research a lower str hits the tires softer and yea will give it back technically up top. i like it to hit harder down low personally. all preference.

The car is absolutely useless in the first 3 gears now on the street so ifigured when i go auto it would be better to have a stall that doesn't hit so hard. Our drivetrains are nearly not as good as the F-body's.

then the lower str will definitely help you out. go for it, give dave at yank a call, tell him your setup and he'll recommend the right one for you.

trust me you'll love it and thank me later. man when my car goes into lockup it feels like another gear change its a badass converter.

I emailed Dave a few weeks ago about which one he would suggest (more for street than track), and he said the py3400. I personally tend to like the higher stall vertors, but he said the py3600 could stall too much when boost comes into play.

I wish I knew back then what I know now. I went through a SS3200. SS3600 and finally the PY3400 (perfect). It took some extra funding to get it right. Do not make the same mistake.
