Not nice...

what size of shot were you using ??

Damage on bearing looks more dirt related.

125 shot.

You're correct on the bearing. There must have been some trash in the oil.

No matter how much effort you put into keeping it clean when building etc....it takes a very small piece of dirt to make marks like that.

Not a big concern really.

I know the bores are a little marked, but throw in a couple of pistons/rings, new bearings, and leave it at that.

Unless you intend spending a fortune on more ?

Id have that blower looked at too. To replace a blower would be more then an engine rebuild.

Yes, rebuilding with New Block. Ross Pistons with larger skirts. New Bearings. Better Nitrous Rings. Going to cost around $2500

Cylinder walls may not be able to be honed out. I decided to go with a new block and not take a chance on a thinner wall.

2nd engine I have pulled.

Blower??? Why look at the blower? In any rate, still looking for a D1.

They are deep. He says he could probably hone them out. But since I want this to hold 700 rwhp. He suggested I go with a new block.

Jeez, Ed, those pics are worse than I thought... You couldn't see any of that damage from the top when we were working on pulling it - but that sure explains the smoke and loss of power.

Still staying with 383 cubes for the rebuild ? Got any leads on a D1 yet ?

Funny how my rear-end has been holding through all this.

Yep 383.

One is more than I can spend. And the other person has not decided to sell or not.
