Default Our 396ci LT1 Turbo build...

Figured i'd post these pics up since we are nearing the end of the road for this project.

This is my brothers 95 Formula it was s/c'ed and we decided to build a turbo set up for it. Nothing too special, just a fun backyard build.
396ci LT1 S400 Turbo

initial pics here:

More pics

The center brace( 1in square tubing) is there just for mock up

Its all tucked up nicely above the K member as well, no low hanging pipes. The air dam will block the pass side from the frontal view once its all bolted up.

Now all we have to do is finish weld the crossover and start working on the DP and FMIC pipe routing.

S400 Borg Warner...think its a 74 or 76mm?
3.5 DP all the way out to the rear axle. Really can't fit anything larger through the k member.

Quick comment Jer:

The DP flange looks close to the support pipe. Make sure you can get the V-band clamp on the flange before you finalize that support

RealQuick, no sweat man, that support (1x1 square tubing) is just for mock up. Its purpose has been served and will be removed as soon as I final weld everything. The true support for the turbo is going to be mounted from the turbo's center section to the water pump bolts. The turbo will be supported very nicely.

Thanks for all the great comments guys, as for when it'll be done, who knows i'm just the dude doing the fab/welding work....we'll let the owner of the car decide when he wants it done....all it takes is more $$...and for our schedules to line up
Don't forsee it taking any longer than the end of December.

Frank, we will be mounting the IC in the nose, but the fog lights will be gone and the nose will be opened up...it will be interesting to say the least but form over function....right

Thanks I made the merge and welded it all up with the exception of the flange to merge weld. My lil buzz box wouldnt handle the 1/2 flange.

I bought some pep boys cheapy aluminized bends to practice making the merge, before I hacked into our stainless tubing pile.

As for specifics on the car, i'd like Eric to chime in as its his car. But it does have a 396ci LT1 built for boost. Compression ratio is like 8.5-1
Built fuel system
Tubular Kmember, a arms, DD frame connectors.
6spd car....

Before all this it was a bolt on H/C LT1, but had a 396 built up on the side for FI.

He went with the S400 because it will later be upgraded to a S80 or S88.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the props on our project! Its a slow goin project to say the least. Money being the main thing, and time the other.

The car is a '95 formy with 6spd, stock 10 bolt with 3.42's, Nutek 396 blower motor, JE pistons, eagle 5.85" h-beam rods, callies racemaster crank, callies 4 bolt splayed main caps, comp cams 224/236 XE blower grind camshaft, extreme duty timing set, stock ported heads, 52mm throttle body, 42# green tops, racetronix twin intank fuel pumps, S400 borg warner turbo, JGS waste gate, tial blow off valve, OBX intercooler, PA racing k member, umi lower A arms, and stock computer.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

After the turbo build, and when money permits, I'll like to get a good set of heads from Elliot Port works or AI inductions, 9" or 12 bolt rear, Stage 3 Spec clutch and upgrade the turbo to an S80 or S88.

Hopefully we will have some more updates for you guys soon.

Thanks for all your support and positive comments,

Eric

P.S. Hey bro! Thanks for everything you've done for me!
