Default Which cam for a 408?

The setup is a 408 and AFR 225cc heads with a final compression of 8.4:1. The blower is an F1-C pushing 19-22psi at 6800-7000 RPM. I spoke with few people and I have an narrowed down my choice to 3 cams. Which cam should I go with?

the one I voted on 234/246 .615/.625 114 LSA +2 is pretty close to what was recommended for my 402. I am going with 238/238 @.050 .620/.620 lift 115 centerline

The car will not have A/C, but it can be used on the street. Of course it will not be a daily driver. I will define it as a race car once i drop a TH400 in it. Until then i will consider it a weekend fun/strip car.

i picked the last one because it has the biggest int./ex. slpit.... blowers need a big split but i dont think it needs to be that big of a duration... or lift.... but thats just me... mine is a th350 408 home ported 241 heads with 4.10 gears 28'' tires.

Then you will need 6800 RPM to max the D-1SC out. If you dont have the cam already look for another one... If you have it use and see what it does.

i dont want to run 62 or 64k rpms... i want it to hit right about 58.5 - 60k impeller speed.... maxing out a blower doesnt always mean faster because at a certain point theres just hot air... depending on the climate ofcourse...

You make a good point there... When are you going to dyno your car? Im interested to see the powerband with your setup.

dynos are far and few between around my area... i really have no intention to dyno it unless i just cant get the 5,500+rpm area tuned by driving it on the street...

but dont get me wrong everyone has different intentions for their setup... and if you plan to drive your car on highways and race it on the interstates then im sure that will suit you well because a high power band is what street racing is.... plus im sure it will sound good too...

I have a 236/245//598/608//115 in mine and it is great. I would do the last one, but remove the advance and increase the LSA. For FI applications there is no need to have any advance in the cam.

I like the last one, but would put in on a 115lsa with advance.

234/246 .615/.625 115+3

Curious why such a low compression ratio?

Can you explain why you feel this way? I'm no cam expert, but I would think with the correct valve timing some advance may be necessary to acheive your target numbers. Usually, advancing will sacrifice a few peak ponies and produce more average through out the curve.

Thanks
