Default bought a 76gts, but what about a pt88?

I bought a 76gts today from Jose to go with my 365 ls2 Hiflo. Getting rid of my gt42, just wondering what you guys think. After talking to Jose he convinced me it would be a better choice for a 6spd street car, it would give me better throttle response than a pt88,since its not a drag car, Iam more interested in handling and making 700rwhp on pump gas. what do you guys think?

The 370's are the iron blocks bored .030 over with 4" stroke.

Small correction. 370's are .030 (6.0L), stock stroke. 4 Inch stroke would be a 408.

ls2 block, stock crank.
Iam just afraid to get it and not be enough.I see MM and other guys are running pt88, but Ill be driving the car thru canyons, halfway thru a turn and the boost kicks in. Jose said the power delivery would be better for a non-drag car.

do you guys think Ill make about 750rwhp with this on pump gas?

Thanks I knew that its just that I'm pretty baked right now and spaced since that stroke is just more common.

Dude you are going to love it!!

I have only put together 2 gears about 4 times but wow.... First geat is useless, as is second for me right now... I have held it spinning through second, and as soon as I shift to 3rd it's up right away, same thing with 4th gear. MPH stacks up QUICKLY. I'm at about 13.5psi with mine now, working my way up

I have to go out of town tomorrow AM and will be gone for 8 longs days away from the car I'm glad when sl03h03 bought the kit that he sold me, he had the 76GTS, and I'm glad that SuperDaveZ (think I have that nick right) picked it out in the beginning to sell to Ken H. (sl03h03) ....but yeah, it's the f'n best thing ever

yeah, I also thought about a 76gts w/ a 80mm, Jose for more roadracing a 76gts would be better.

works for me ..... im making 750rwhp no problem with it on my 366. 15psi. cars not even dynotuned yet. still low 10s AFR. hope u got some decent heads tho

the 76gts on my setup seems to be outperforming the setups with 88s making 100+ more hp.

Turbols1ss: what rpm are you hitting full boost?

I should get it all done in about 3 weeks, put some pics when they are worth showing.

this is quoted from DrTurbo that was posted in a different Thread, I know its not the spool difference between the 76 or the 76gts, but may help a little. These are with the Borg Warner Turbos and the difference between the 76 and the 78 is very minimal. I assume it would be as well for between the 76 and 76GTS? Maybe DrTurbo Can chime in.

On a 346ci, these are approx. numbers since all setups are different.... This is based on 8.5cr, and 270cfm heads with a LS6 cam. 6spd trans as well.

S76 - ~3900
S78 - ~3950
S80 - ~4000
S82 - ~4100
S85 - ~4300
S88 - ~4400

The S80 is by far the best all around for big power and good spool up.

To damn big... same physical size as GT42. If size is an issue (the reason you got rid of the GT42?) then go with the T76GTS.

I agree with Jose on this one. I spoke with he and Jason about this setup yesterday. I believe he was telling you 88 for more of a drag race setup and 76 if your roadracing. He said its crucial for you to have quick boost response coming out of an apex and tail end throttle control, which I would have to agree. If your racing on curves you need quick response since some of the steering is done with your right foot. Also he didn't tell you the TC76 since its not as powerful and the GTS is going to be the better unit to reach your power goal #'s, and still keep the setup responsive. The TC76 I would would say is a nice 650-700rwhp turbo on pump with 750 on pump out of a 76GTS being more likely. On race fuel, both will make stupid power. Also I personally wouldn't run 750rwhp on pump gas, to much can go wrong one time and boom, another new piston or headgasket is needed.
