Default Turbo knowledge

Trying to compare a T76GTS-H to lets say... a GT4204r... (I think that's it). Because GT turbos are measured by the "mm" like the T series turbos are it's making it difficult for me to get a general idea on a good comparison between these turbos. Can anyone enlighten an ignorant man here?

I just want to be able to label the size of a turbo like you would refer to a 104mm turbo or soemthing to that effect.

Like a GT35r... how would you compare it to a T72 or T76? Or a T88 to a GT42r? 50mm t3/t4 to a GT30r! Help!

Standard older T series units like T72 and T76 refer to inducer. The newer GT turbos refer to 102mm exducer. They measure the wheels on the exducer side, which I have no idea why since it does not tell you anything about what kind of power it will make. Stupid nomenclature if you ask me.

Also the first part of this page explains the GT stuff

http://www.forcedinductions.com/help.htm

The older T stuff is all over the place. Most of the numbers to mean much, since they were all turbos made direct for diesels.

Like DR.Turbo said, the T76GTS measures 76mm inducer of the compressor wheel. The Garrett GT4202 can have either a 74mm or 76mm inducer and the exducer is 102mm (hence the name GT4202 ).
