Gas Water in my Catch can
I have gone for a couple short blasts this winter with my car
since we do not have snow yet. but I noticed that I am getting
another fluid (besides oil) in my Home Depot Seperator Catch can.
At first I thought it was coolent but it smells like gas.
Could it be condensation? Its like half full.
Water on bottom & oil on top.
If it is gas could my Intake manifold be leaking?
I saw no signs of boost loss.

Its condensation. Mine did it too, before I built a proper re-circulating system, that returns any trapped fluids into the sump/oilpan again.
Here any "water/condensation" caught will simply boil off again.

I do not have I pic and I already drained it out.
I just added another seperator just to make sure nothing gets to the procharger.
Stevieturbo, could you explain in more detail the setup your running?

I vent the 3 outlets on the rockers into a baffled oil/air separator. 2 x 10mm on RHS of car, and the 15mm or so on the rear LHS rocker cover.
These go into the oil/air separator. This also has a vent to atmosphere via a small K&N on the other side of the baffles. SO no oil/liquid should ever escape. Any oil or liquid present should collect in the bottom of the separator. Then at the bottom any fluid that is collected, is automatically returned to the oilpan, using the oil level switch hole.
Obviously I dont run an oil level switch now. I just got an M20x1.5 to -6 adaptor for this.
The return to the oilpan should be below the level of the oil. If its above, then you will still get crankcase pressure blowing back up the return.

Like what? I did not see anything under the cap or dipstick.
I thought it could be coolent but I drained it on a towel and it
smelled like gas. Thought it could be the Intake manifold be leaking
I saw no signs of boost loss. I did tighten the bolts down I little.
But it is still doing this. Car is running great.

OK I went for I ride and it filled up some more.
There is some milky oil under my oil cap but not on the dip stick.
I forgot that I run less than 50% antifreeze so it probably is coolent.
How can I tell if its comming from the Heads or tne Intake?

There is nothing on the intake manifold to leak..
Are you actually losing any coolant from the radiator/header tank ??? If you are, then maybe you do have issues.
If not...you dont. Its that simple.
More than likely, what you collected in the breathers, is due to condensation. My oil filler cap would also have a creamy residue on the underside. Again, Im certainly not concerned. Running a cooler stat probably doesnt help matters.
Although I havent checked it again since fitting the stock one for winter.

stevieturbo, I think you are right.
I have been scanning my coolent temps and it has not got
above 170 Deg even after a 30 min drive.
Rather than puting the stock thermo back in for the rare time
I drive the car in the cold, I have thought of a trick.
I pulled the Fan fuse, and idling I got it over 220 Deg.
I have not drove it yet, but I think it will solve it.

[QUOTE=mondi2002]This is what I got after two rides.
I have been out of touch on the message boards for a while, that setup is interesting. I have noticed this foamy crap on my oil cap and today when I opened the hood it was foamy around the dipstick.
The car is not using ANY coolant. I checked it when I first noticed this milky foam (last oil change 2 weeks ago), I cleaned everything but now it is back. The foam that was coming out of the dipstick appears to be all of it, there wasn't any on the oil cap though, but when I pulled it off there was moisture on the cap.
Your setup there to catch that moisture, since I have been away from the boards in a while is this something I can easily do to my 99Z? It looks like this just connects to the PCV system.
