Default People with MP70s...

What kind of power are you making on or around 10psi (6 speed). I just bought one and I plan on running 10psi from a 355 with around 8.3:1 compression with a small cam. Any of you bring it to the track yet? Also, what kinda problems have you experienced with this turbo? Thanks.-Mark

im running 7.5psi @ 533rwhp..

tho I was told my 70 was a garrett, until I did some research..

I would never buy one, but then again, it hasnt given me any problems..

tho I hear bad things about mp all the time...

Its just worth the extra$$ to get a garrett, precision, turbonetics.. etc

not a big fan of MP either. unless it can be had uber cheap, i wouls pass on it. if you can, get yourself a 76mm, give yourself room to grow. you will be happier

i have no personal experience with them, but the turbo guys like "Dr Turbo" and "Jose@ForcedInductions" always rant about how many MP rebuilds they get ALL THE TIME...and how they are overall crappy units.

buy quality parts once, not shitty parts twice

i get that but im sure part of the rebuilds have to do with improper instal and other things done by the buyer. Theres alot of people on here whove had no problem with them...hopefully ill be one of them. =)

im currently got my car torn down to upgrade to my PT88, but i never had a single problem with it. It made boost fast, held it, and made good power all the way to 7000rpms. If you have it, use it. You will love it, but make sure it has a .96ar hot side.

Yeah, mine came with a .96 A/R housing. Ill be using "as cast" trickflow 62cc heads(I traded my better flowing stock LE2's)...while I know the LE2's flow better (cuz they are ported) I traded for the bigger CC's(62 instead of 56) to bring the compression down to where I wanted it to around 8.3:1 not to mention I have much more room to grow next year when I get these heads ported. Did you have it with the 370cid? or the stock 346? Mines a 355 and im wondering when it comes into full boost..

I had a MPt70/.96ar on-center turbine w/ my old set-up, tti street kit on stock motor w/ 6spd except for a cam. At 9ps it made 467hp/499tq @ the wheels on "mustang dyno" w/ only 14deg on 92oct, so on dynojet it should be aprox. 567/599? maybe more w/ more timing and some mixed race gas. I only had that set-up for about 3-4k mi. but the turbo came on strong from 3,000 up to 6,200rpm. All in all, it was a descent turbo for the small price especially if you're in a tight budget, i just did'nt have it long enough to find out it's durability.

0.68 si hte A/R I run on the 3.8L fbodies I build, thats way too small on a ls1, backpressure is prolly through the roof.

well thats what im looking for hoping power is on pretty good by 3k up to 6...and i figured anything under a .81 would be too small...
