Default o2 sensor location

just wondering how critical the o2 sensor location is when your building the exhaust, i'm assuming it should just go where all the primarys come together, maybe some of you guys that have done this before can give me your opinions

what sensor are you talking about?
narrowband?
wideband?

wont it burn up if its too close (within less than 3' ? )?
