Default 427 LS2 and boost boost boost?

dont see many around if any but can a 427 ls2 block safely handle 1000+hp under boost? will the cylinder wall thickness be a problem at those power levels or is the ls2 block an all around stronger block? i dont want to dish out $6k for a c5r block and i don t want to go iron, theres the warhawk block but i dont see that beeing too useful as the best thing about it is the 6 bolts/cylinder and im going to be using AFR 225 LS1 heads..

go for it! the extra inchs will let you run more power on pump fuel. and if you get the re-sleeving work done by a reputable company (RED is a good one from what i have heard) then you should have little to worry about.

have you concidered the LS7???? i know people will come back and say they aren't strong enough but that rubbish. and if you do crak a lining then you can now get new liners for them!

just my thought

Chris.

ya i actually had read that before i posted this... but i dont mean id be running 1000 at all times just to safely put that down and run it at the track a few times then turn down the boost when the street driving comes in play. but ya my main concern was the cylinder wall thickness of a 427 ls2 in boosted applications? lingenfelter does it (not guaranteed for 1000 but a Ling vette around here does 850 to the wheels which id love to do) but he uses the c5r race block which i cant afford...i may consider the GMPP lsx block but i really REALLY dont want that added 100+ lbs in front. ya i can get rid of other things to reduce weight but remember im planning for boost which means even MORE weight up front already with the turbo/piping....

I say that if I were to do this, which I hope to one day on a vette, I would use the warhawk block. This is mainly for other reasons like that oiling differences, extra head bolts, etc.... but then again i'd want to crank it up on the dyno to see what i could do! With a budget in mind a good strong sleeve on an ls2 block should be plenty for those power levels. inspector12 (spelling?) is using an ls2 block for his speed inc 402 build and he probably will see 800+!

If you plan to run it at the track you'll probably break everything else in the drivetrain before the block gives...
