Default Finally crossed the 130 mph barrier, too bad the 60' sucks

Best for me was 10.782 @ 128.29, 1.718 60'

Still couldn't build boost on the line Have to work on that, can't keep the exhaust hot enough to spool it well with my tight converter. New completely insulated exhaust system should end up fixing that.

Fastest MPH of the night was 11.195 @ 131.51, 1.911 60' (that is a 5psi launch lol) Happy that I can finally cross the 130mph barrier into a head wind, now I just need to pull together the launch and I'll hopefully go low 10's

Congrats!! awesome dude! i'm grabbing my moser 9" and then i will be hitting the track... still won't be using sticky tires but it will be a blast. I gotta wonder how long my stock clutch will last. once it goes i will be upgrading the tranny and clutch (textralia oz700 series) and the tranny from t-56rebuilds.... and yes, doing it all myself

Sure do, but have only been able to get 6psi lately vs the 10psi I use to get. Exhaust gets too cold sitting in the staging lines. After I make a pass I've tested it at the top of the return road and it makes 10psi in about 4 seconds.

5psi = 1.9 60' 6psi = 1.8 60', 10psi = 1.5x 60'

Going to have all my exhaust redone and fully insulated from the manifold to the turbo, that will probably solve the issue, iff not I'll just use No Other Solution

How much does a 2 step help on a trans brake car?

i bet it will add 3-4 psi to what you already have. how is the tune when you are on the brake? lots of timing ?

Yes, lots of timing (27 degrees at 6psi) and a 12.8:1 a/f. I've tried less timing but that kills the tq and it doesn't push the converter enough. I've tried richer and leaner but both kill the tq and don't push the converter enough.

At 0psi it stalls to 3000 rpms At 6psi the converter stalls to 3500 rpms, at 10psi it stalls to 4000 rpms. I just can't get over the hump to run away boost land.

Main problem is heat since my turbo is eleventy billion feet away from the motor. The car is working pretty good power wise after the launch since I'm able to trap 103+ in the 1/8 mile and 130+ in the 1/4 (had a head wind too last night). Judging by past slips I should go 10.3 @ 132 if I could launch with a 1.60 60'.

The other solution to this issue would be to put some nicer heads on the car to so it makes more power at lower boost. I'm on completely stock LQ9 heads with springs of course. I ran a max of 17psi last night. Going from 15psi to 17 psi and pulling 1 degree of timing (had 2 degrees of KR) on the top end netted me 3 MPH. I think heads would really help my car out overall with spooling.

SOmthing isn't rigth with your ride I feel.

Mr_president went 10.22 @ 134.9 with a 1.48 60ft........ON ONLY 8 PSI.

You seem to have similar set-ups. I would expect to go at least high 9s on 15psi.

Also the elevation and the fact that zombie is running 2.73 gears.

Can't even compare the setups, not to mention the locations. Everything is slower here. I was the 2nd fastest street car at the track wed night, #1 was a 1st gen camaro with a 400 cu in T76 setup on 14psi. He was running low 10's at 135. I was on 15 psi for my best pass at 10.7 @ 128, another vortech powered LS1 (completely built and cog'd) was there on 12 psi running 10.97 @ 125 on 1.5x 60's. Last Wed there was a completely done up LT1 procharged and N2O car on 15psi that was only able to run low 12's at 125mph, but he had all sorts of issues. If you want really depressing one of the guys I know has a 427 stroker LS1 A4 that runs 11.2 @ 120 mph (1.5x 60'), he's N/A and that is is best pass ever.

I'll run in the low 10's once I sort my car out, but it takes more boost here, I also am running stock heads and have a heavy car. If I ran 8psi I'd probably run 11.9 @ 118mph LOL

These guys just don't get the altitude part of the equation....65-7000ft DA is the norm here on a good day

Technically I don't think my car should work as well as it does the more I think about it, rear mounted turbo, 2.75 gears, 2800ish converter, motor built almost completely out of used parts (only new parts are timing chain and oil pump) on a shoe string budget. The gears in the rear end cost me $25 on ebay and are from a 1972 El Torino. The only thing i've spend real money on is the trans and rear end. My suspension is a set of BMR LCAs and an airbag, the rest is stock and has 80k miles on it.

I'm like the sanford and son of turbo cars.

DarkblueTA, sorry man, I'm in Hong Kong right now and will be until the 13th, otherwise I'd love to. On another note though, I am huge over here LOL

67Firebird455, I'm not sure what kind of power it's making, but I like it I'm axious to see how much of a difference having the exhaust fully insulated from manifold to turbo makes. Right now just the y-pipe and I-pipe are done. It's not up to the manifolds due to the hollow cats. Should also have a 50 shot on it soon to aid in staging faster...
