Default Tune thread!

I'm most interested in knowing where people are ending up on their FI/ pump gas tunes, after my ordeal last year with timing/COP reference on the BS3 I've gained some important knowledge. With the reference being set 5 degrees advanced, (it's pretty easy to do, when i found TDC when trying to figure out the BS3 i must've bumped the pointer...) I unknowingly ran 13psi/17-18 degrees total timing with absolutely ZERO issues. (track was a different story) No plug spotting etc.

Since then i've backed the timing down to 12 degrees total @ 8psi to be extra safe BUT now it's slow! (well, relatively)

What is everyone else WITH knock sensors running regarding boost/timing? I partially believe in knock sensors but since my BS3 isn't provisioned for them I don't get much of a choice...

here's my current safe 92 octane tune:
8:1 static compression, 8-12 psi boost with 12 degrees advance on the higher MAP figures (150kpa+).

At 9.5:1 I ran 12 degrees of timing at 11-12psi with no issues at all on 93. thats real verified timing

I could push it a little more probably but I'm kinda paranoid myself.

12 degrees is nothing, you should be able to run 16 just fine.

I'm paranoid though, and since i don't have any knock sensors i like to stay on the safe side. I'm going to go bump the 8psi line to 16 and interpolate back to 13 up to 12psi. My motor is also pretty low in the compression department, like PSJ's.
