Correct gauges to use when supercharging
I am going to be installing a vortech v1 s-trim kit on my 95 formula lt1. Just wanted some opinions from some people who have bought different gauges and which one will bennefit me the most. I would like a BOOST and FUEL PRESSURE gauge. Electrical, and I don't know about the ranges on them, which would bennefit me the most for the vortech system I am using? Any help and opinions is appreciated! thanks -Matt

mechanical boost gauge Range would be 30 In. Hg/20 PSI
Fuel pressure would be 0 to 100 psi electric
And I would highly reconmend getting a incar wideband. Your choice.
Triple A pillar to mount all of them.
Fuel pressure would be 0 to 100 psi electric

which boost gauge should I run? electrical or mechanical and what range is suitable... I am looking in my summit racing book right now at the autometer gauges. Do I need the "boost pressure" example 0-35 psi or the "boost/vac." example 30in.gh./20psi? or the "blower pressure" example 0-35psi?

If you are only to get 3, I would say boost/vac, fuel pressure, and a wideband would be a must. I have all 3 in my car, and they have helped me to prevent my motor from going ka-boom more than once while working out the bugs of the new blower install and having it tuned.

Get what JMBLOWNWS6 said. You can get the boost only guage, but why? Get the boost/vacuum gauge it will show you more info. I would run mechanical boost gauge and electric fuel pressure gauge.

Another vote for
-mechanical vac/boost
-electric fuel pressure (0-100psi)
-wideband (I am running the AEM wideband and love it)
all on a triple pod pillar mount
I also have an aeroforce interceptor gauge mounted in the middle center vent of the dash above the radio. It plugs into your OBD port and displays any 2 parameters your computer reads. I keep one on knock retard at all times, and the other parameter based on what I want to know at any time (coolant temp, IAT, STFT, LTFT, etc. etc.)

My problem was that for the autometer electrical sport comp boost gage, they had 2 models. one that went up to 15#'s of boost, and one that went to 30#'s of boost. I originally just wanted to stay around 12#'s of boost, and thought the 15#'s of boost gage would suffice, but then I ended up getting the 30#'s of boost gage just to be on the safe side. When I dyno'd, I ended up maxing out at 15.3#'s of boost (this year it will probably be a couple more). I am definatly glad I opted for the 30# boost gage, otherwise I would have ended up with a pegged gage, not knowing where I was at boost wise.
