Default Home built D1-SC part 2:fuel & grill (pics)

Well I finished up the fuel system the other day. Everything seems to be working but havn't driven it yet and won't untill I get it tuned. The system should be good for 900rwhp. It's a dual inline walbro 255 set-up with a regulator and return line(just used the stock vapor line). The second pump is wired to a hobbs switch so it doesn't kick on until I get into boost. Here are a few pics.

And then the grill. I really liked my mirror bird in the front so I decided to make a grill with a stainless bird on it. I still wanted to be able to take it out at the track for more air flow but I wanted better looks for street driving and still have some air flow. This is what I came up with.

I'm getting tuned on the 17th. 9psi pully and it's an 8 rib. Stock block for now, hopefully the tune is good and it lasts at least the summer. I think it should, I have plenty of fuel, front mount intercooler and a lower compresion from the lq4 heads so it should be ok. I know I'm pushing the limits of the stock block though. Car made 408 before the procharger so I'm looking for around 600rwhp.

As for the grill, it's not that plastic mesh stuff, it's actually metal grill thats very reflective. It's kind of hard to tell from the pics but I like how it looks much better than wide open or using screen or plastic mesh.

Thanks Bob, that's really nice to hear comming from someone who does as nice of work as you do. I only hope the d1 does as well for me as it has on some of your cars.

I am a big fan of the mesh. That's exactly what I would like to do when I get my Procharger and FMIC (from Bob). I'm thinking about keeping the fog lights, though. That's a very, very clean setup. You absolutely get props for it!

Thanks guys. I put the fmic kit together with parts off ebay. I have the fogs mounted too now. Unfortunatly they are not functional, not enough room. I just velcroed them on so they can be removed for the track. I got that idea from someone else on here, worked pretty good.

Looks good! interested to see those fog lights. So did you have to cut the fog light openings on the bumper to fit the FMIC too?

Yeah, had to cut a couple inches off and now they sit flush on the intercooler. I kind of like it that way because it adds a little extra support to the bumper, I didn't want it to be all flimsy. The lights barely still fit WITHOUT the bulbs. It's just valcro holding them on to the intercooler. I may add some new functional fogs to the bottom slots under the turn signals. I'll have to see how board I get once I'm finished working on it, I've been working on it alot so I'm kinda looking forward to just driving it.

Nice and clean. You really think 900rwhp?

I like the mesh. Every think of painting the parts of the IC that show through the foglight holes black? The overall efect might be even more balanced.

It looks like you plumbed your bypass valve after the MAF. Aren't you releasing metered air into the atomosphere? Also where did you hook up the hobbs switch?

My setup won't make 900, the fuel system is good to 900. I'm going for around 550rwhp. I have the fogs back in there to cover the holes.
