Default Is this normal

I was checkin out my piping the other day and noticed I had some black leak marks on my bypass valve so I cranked it up and just at idle both sides of the shaft are leaking ALOT! This isn't normal is it?
Below is a pic of the type of bypass valve i'm running.

It is normal to have some airflow past the shaft, it is so insignificant that it make no difference in performance and assures the valve doesn't stick.

Just to clarify, i'm talking about on the outside housing where the center shaft rotates is where its leaking out. Not past the valve itself on the inside. I don't think it should be?

Is that a ATI one by chance, we have seen 1-2psi increases in boost pressure by going from that unit to there race bypass. Yes it is common for those to leak a good amount of air.
