Default STS heat retention

Alright I wanted to see if anyone here that has a STS had coated their pistons, combustion chambers and exhaust.

We, Tom and I (at Tiberio Performance) he's a patient man just ripped mine apart for forging, Bob at Precision has coated everything from the exhaust manifolds to the exhaust side of the turbo housing. Next step when the heads are done is to take them to Bob for combustion chamber and piston coatings. My thought process is that with everything coated it should help with maintaining as much heat/velocity/energy as possible.

I've got the M6 and while I used to get quite a bit of max power. Power off the line was not impressive unless everything was already hot. Something hard to do at the strip. From a roll my car was like a boosted LS1 very strong

Ok boosted compadres have I forgot something? Is there something else I should be doing while I'm in here to get the most out of this package? Has someone already done this and if so what we're your results?

Wrap the exhaust with that DEI header wrap. It helped a lot on mine.

Even though I got the entire exhaust coated? I'm thinking that would be the same as wrap. No?

No...coating definitely helps but does not take the place of the fabric wrap. I'm currently having larger piping fabricated for my STS...it will be coated and wrapped again.

And unless you are running stainless, you want to have your hot side coated before wrapping to prevent it from rusting out...the wrap really holds moisture.

I'm assuming no one has coated pistons and combustion chambers with the STS. Gotta be someone out there thats done it already and can share their results..

wrap and coating seems to contradict what everyone on here is saying. From what Ive heard and seen, wrapping coated pipe will cause corrosion, rust, and pipe falling apart as well as destruction to the coating. I seems like most guys are getting good results from just porting stock manifolds and wrapping the full exhaust.

Wrapping made an unbelievable difference. Don't discount it.

I personally don't have coated insides on the engine...but I can't imagine that hurting. Sounds like you went all out .

What's done is done...just wrap that nogga and boost freely!

Thanks guys, not discounting it at all I've read good things about wrapping it.

Once everythings back together I'll be taking temp readings/dyno numbers before and after the wrapping. Already got everything coated so there's no going back now. I'll be sure to keep things updated.

Did you guys wrap the manifolds too or just start after the collector?

On my own vehicle, I ported the stock manifolds and had them coated. I started wrapping right after the manifolds all the way back to the turbo flange.

I for one don't know. Personnally if i cannot get boost soon enough I'll be hitting things with a little nitrous to get out of the hole. 75/100 shot should work nicely. Don't want to hit it with a two step since I'll be keeping the cats.
