Default Can anyone ID this turbo... STS haters beware!

This is off an older STS kit, circa 2005. Anyone know if this is a 60-1, or a 67?

Thanks!

Thanks for the input guys, but I can't really do the size test, as the turbo is not in my possession right now. I guess I need to call the place that has it... they would know what it is!

Thanks again!

take the compressor housing off and send me a pic. From the outside, everything looks the same. Its just a different size compressor wheel.

Like I said in the post right above yours, I don't have it in my possession!

(I don't know JACK about turbos, that's why I'm asking.)

Instead of sending a pic... how about just having them measure the wheel since the housing is off Thats the easiest way.

Yeah, just measure the comp wheel, and the backside is either a standard P-trim or 69 trim which is a P-trim cut with a step.

I know. I was just pointing out the fact that if it was possible to take the compress. cover off for a picture, then measuring the wheel is easier

The housing looks smaller than mine and I have the 67. So, I would say it's the 60.

60-1 and 67 are TWO different turbos- they utilize way diffrent compressor blades the physical dimensions are the same between the turbos ( primarily use t3 or t4 based turbine housing and S- compressor housings (to4S)( 4 inch bellmouth inlet with 2.5 outlet)

60-1 has is a older technology T04B design 7 fin design

below is a picture of a 60-1 blade design

the 67 is a 6 fin design with knife edges

roornZ28's is an t04E housing design- same housing on every t3t4E turbo ( 50, 54,57,60,etcc) they use the same housings on many turbos, however the blade size is diffrent, and the housings are machined to accomodate the blades.

So now I'm confused. Are you saying that the turbo I have pictured is a 60, and so is navymitch12's, when the compressor wheels look nearly identical (and he says his is a 67)?

The turbo I posted does not have a bellmouth inlet, just like navymitch12's, but both of the ones you posted do have bellmouth inlets.

Please clarify.

Thanks for all the info guys! In the industry I am in, I need to know all about the competition!
