Default Anyone running a T3/T4 twin setup?? Incon?

I am trying to see if anyone is running a twin T3/T4 setup. Does the Incon kit use these types of turbos, or is theirs all T4 based? How about any other kits??

Thanks, -Dave

Hmm, I spoke with Jose at Forced Inductions and he was leaning towards a set of the T3/TO4E 57mm turbos. Not sure if I should looke smaller or what?! I wonder if my 346 2-bar setup will be able to use all 57mm of those TO4E's?

I've got a used t3/t4 off of my CAS TT kit, but 1 needs rebuilt(seal/bearing went bad). I'll trade you with some parts if you're interested.

Awesome, so are both the exhaust and compressor size both T3? Or is it a T3 exhaust/T4 compressor? Does the 44 mean a 44mm compressor wheel?

How many cubes are you running, and what PSI and horsepower? When do the turbos start to really pull?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out what to buy.

Thanks!

Maybe I've missed it, but what kind of power are you shooting for, anyway? from what cubic inch? street or race set-up? m6 or auto? ....I'm just trying to figure out what you're trying to do.

Yea, I should have posted that up...

Here is my engine so far:
Aluminum 346 w/foged rods and pistons at 8.5:1 CR
317 heads w/polished chambers, 918 springs and hardened pushrods
Z06 intake manifold
Stock 98-99 F-body cam
Cadillac CTS-V cast iron manifolds flipped forward
2-bar MAP sensor
All piping will be custom fabricated
4L80E automatic trans (redline at 6000-6200 max)

I'm not super concerned with the max power, but I do need a very responsive engine to pull my +4,000lb Jag around. Car will be a weekend driver and traction will be limited. I am thinking the max would be about 650rwhp, limited by my 14psi max 2-bar setup.

Id go with the T3/T4 hybrid as well. I'm looking into a pair of those for next season. Still have the quick spool of a T3 turbine but T4 compressor! Nothing rediculous, but should fit the 346 well and make some very good numbers

Cool, I looked at your page and it said you were running 60mm turbos. What exactly are you running now? What specs? When does it start to boost, etc? Why do you want to move to a T3/T4?

They are roughly a 60mm. Just T3s with a stage 3 turbine wheel and 58-60 compressor. small .48 ARs on the turbine sides. They are built for quick spool. One turbo is getting rebuilt ATM due to it leaking so i havent even gotten to get the car tuned yet. Should make good power on the 346 with low boost and quick spool. Thinking of the hybrids later, because i have that itch to want to up the cubes a bit and i feel they may choke out these smaller turbos. Bigger is better man, haha.

Hm, the ones that I was considering was a T3 with a 57mm .48 T04E cold side and a .63 T3 hot side. Is your compressor side a T3?

What kind of hp and psi numbers are you looking for, and are you basing it on your own calculations or someone else's experience... ex: does some kit or someone else's car have a similar system you are modeling after, or did you just pull those turbos out of your own calculations?

I actually dont know of anyone else running my set up so my goals are estimates... 8 psi and ~450-500 rwhp with quick spool is the goal. Yep, T3 comp. and turbine. .60 AR on comp, and .48 on turbine with the stage 3 wheels. If i got some different turbos right now i would buy the turbonetics t3/t4 with .7 on comp, and .63 or .82 on turbine. But thats me.... Best of luck man. Maybe give the pros a call over at FI and they can set you up. Hope this helps!

FastKat, .63ar on the hotside with a stage 3 or 5 should give you a quick spool, but .48ar on the compressor side with a 57mm wheel might be a little small for an ls1, I'd go atleast .60ar .

Superman09, for some reason I thought you have a t3/t4, and the turbos you're planning for upgrade are sort of the same ones I've actually just ordered from Jose, a Turbonetics bigshaft t3/t4, 61mm cold/.60ar E-cover, P-trim hot/.63ar, but I just could'nt justify to cough-up another $800.00 for the optional ceramic ballbearing .

dang man, same thing as me.. was looking at those in standard bearing as well since the BB are wayyy expensive. Shoot me a PM with full specs, prices and info please.

FastKat, i think these hybrids fit a 346 real well, and like BooSSt said, those suggestions from Jose seem good but maybe bump up the Comp side a little more.

Yea good look.... last night and this morning I ran the numbers myself and the 57mm compressor wheel looks like the perfect fit for 346's running 10-15 psi... which is what I will likely be running. Jose did say that the there was a pretty limited selection for coldside compressor housings and that .48 A/R was pretty much the standard... I can ask him more about that when I get around to ordering though.

I don't think I would opt for the ball bearings either... it seems like a lot of cash and I don't know if it's worth it. I guess if you're building and all out setup or running have a very small displacement engine it might be the right move.

according to the "Garrett" disibutor in phoenix, the t04e .60 A/R compressor housing are not in short supply. he said the stage 5 wheels were though.

The incon turbo was a T2 if memory serves me correctly. We use the T3/4 BB Turbonetics with our C5-6 X system and have supported over 1000 rwhp
