Default New track time with the Turbo car

Took the car to the test N tune tonight at Beech Bend. Decided to make soem passes on the BFG DR's and see what it would do. I was happy to say the least. I hit 130mph and just shy of my 10 second goals. Could build any boost on the line. I need to hook up the t-brake.

Here are the slips. Sorry for the crappy quality. My scanner doent like me.

I did manage to get some video of the car. I have to thank Hogan's date for the video footage. The car moves out slow the first couple passes. The last pass was blast. So close to a 10 second street car. Here is the link to the video.

You need to use spellcheck on your video. Sponsors has a "p" after S and before o The car ran great all night. With some tweaks on the suspension, the transbrake and two-step working, and a real set of fats and skinnies the car is going to FLY. Going from 7 pounds to 10 pounds picked up basically 9 mph. Hopefully adding 4 more pounds to 14 will be even better.

You said it would work when I ordered them, and I have had nothing but success with the TC76MPS. After all the drama about them, I hope this puts it in the books as a solid 76mm turbo for the LS1 platform.

Yup and they spool FAST for a journal bearing 76. Also we have some other customers sending us timeslips......some of them are going FAST with the TC series units. They are by far the best bang for the buck!

It looked like that last pass was a 2.3 60', I would think that means your good for mid 10s if you can get a better launch. Nice work.

Never mind, just read the slip, 1.94. Still room for improvement, definitly a 10 second car.

Yeah, I just gotta get the 60' down. That's where my ET is at. That and getting off the line under boost. Then traction will be an issue.

Yeah I just ordered a set of QA1 coil overs for the front of the car and some rear QA1 shocks also. I had great luck with them on my 03 Cobra so I think they will get by with the Camaro. Now I need to grind the rear calipers to get my buddies Pro Stars on the car. I am thinkng of changing my rear gear from a 3.25 to 3.50 too. I dont know how much of a difference it would make tough.

so this was on the footbrake? and no spool on the line, were you at least at 0 or still in vacuum? and how high can you go on the converter (rpms) before the car wants to move?

MAN there is still hope for this TC after all. I need to get my car to the track quick, but memorial day weekend is a nogo for the average dude to run

How is the tune off idle? I can get my TC to foot brake to 5psi. I run some really aggressive timing down low tho. My stall is a 3800 Vig.

I just throw it in neutral, hold the brake down and rev it with the other foot until the brake pedal drops and then bring up the rpms really fast....and 5psi shows before the tires spin.

Drama or no drama when there isn't jack being posted about em for about a year its tough to see how'd they perform on any platform. Dr.Turbo post those slips after all the drama about em(which stemmed from a mislabeled box ) I'd figure you'd be posting them left and right.

Wickred, awesome video...that last pass was badass.

Yep, foot braking. I stalled the car to about 2300 before it started to push. It got me to around 0 vacuum. That is what I did on the last run on the video. It left the line and sarted building boost at 2700rpm and was at the full 10lbs by 3200rpm.

My tune is safe. I have the timming setup at 24* degrees up to 100Kpa. the I drop it down to 15* degrees under boost. I ramp the timming down from 24* to 18* to 15* degree's by 5lbs. I am sure I could play with the tune some some and get some boost under foot braking.

Well I had a boring day at the plant. It was completley shut down. No operators. Just me and another maintenace tech. So I spent the 12hr shift messing with the car. It so nice having a 3/4 mile straight stretch of road in front of the plant. I put some more timing in the lower end of the timing table. The car responded very well. It feels alot stronger and more resonsive now. Rolls into boost alot faster also. It still pushes through the brake before building boost. I am gonna bleed them tomarrow and see if that helps. The pedal feels soft. Gonna get the QA1 coil overs and rear shocks on the car tomarrow too. Hopefully Hogan will come through with the ProStars and I can get a decent tire with some side wall under the car before the test 'n' tune Tuesday night.

Why not just use the trans brake? I wouldnt waste too much time trying to build boost on the foot brake. You have a couple two steps on the FAST right? Use one set just before the car start pushing through the brakes then when you hit the trans brake it kicks up to a higher two step to get the boost up on the line. You have the tools there, may as well use them

I need to wire up the T-brake. I havent looked at the 2-step/Boost builder function on the FAST. I know those two things will give me the umph to get the 10 second pass I am looking for.

Now to go figure out how to wire the T-brake up.

Well I wired up the Trans brake and the 2 step. I installed the rear QA1's. The front were too much to mess with tonight. I am gonna take it to the test 'n' tune tonight (Tuesday) and go for the 10 second pass.

Me and Hogan took the car out tonight and tested out the t-brake. I left the 2 step off. I can build 8lbs quick by 3000rpm on just the t-brake. It doesnt take long at all to build the boost. I let go of the button at 8lbs and it was a wild smoke show.

10's here I come...
