Default New 1/4 mile best today barely

It was pretty warm (85) but decided to make a few passes with the F1A and 4" pulley. Saw around 18psi at 7000rpm. Couldnt get the car to hook no matter what, finally just put the 2-step down to 2000 rpm and went with it. Still never got a good solid hook the whole night, best 60 foot was 1.345 which is pretty terrible for this car. I'm going to have to wait for some better weather for an 8 second pass unless I do meth or an A2W IC which I dont want to do. The hot weather really kills my 60 foots, never left the starting line under 100* which kills of my 60 foot times pretty bad. Its about as tapped out as it can get, IATs are hittin 160 or so degrees. Good news is it didnt push any water but its really not making that great of power in the heat either.

Best pass was the last, 9.11 @ 148.9 with a 1.348 60 foot, finaly hit 120mph in the 1/8 on that pass.

Videos here, dont know when they will work, few passes were aborted since it would break the tires loose and head towards the wall.

I haven't been on in a couple weeks now so I'm guessing you're happy with the bigger cam.

Still great #s!

KP ever consider running meth? I bet with that nice cooler charge you got 8's in the bag.

Why are you hesitating to put a meth kit on the car? I mean, you run race gas, so why not meth? It raises octane and lowers IAT's, plus is a nice safety buffer. Just curious, not trying to give you a hard time.

I've run it on 2 cars now, very good results.

Should take YOU about 5 minutes to install. Took me a couple hours.

I've considered it, but back when I was running my turbo cars I never really gained anything using it over race gas even though the IATs appeared cooler. An A2W with ice would be the way to go, this 150.00 intercooler can only do so much, the F1A makes a lot more heat then the D1. Its easier to wait for better weather

As far as the cam it seems a wash, 60 foots went away some as I expected and the mph went up as I expected. I have to get it to a track thats prepped a little better so I can hit it harder off the line and see what happens.

Like I said I've tried it before and in the end it never really helped anything ET-wise, if I was trying to run pump gas then I would do it but thats not the case since I am using decent fuel. Plus most races I run dont allow it anyhow, if I'm going to do something not allowed I may as well put a 50-75 dry shot on it and pick up a hell of lot more then what meth injection would do

Awesome Kev!!!! Looks like you got to make alot of passes/attempts. Whats your raceweight now? With your normal 60' and cool weather, looks like 8s are just a few months away. I am surprised you are running it so hard in the heat

Why would the temperature affect your 60fts ?

Track temp ? IAT's ? Ambient temps ?

Surely if there is enough power to smoke the tyres off the line, the only temp problem would be track/traction related ?? Not power ?

Stout ride Kev.

I picked up 0.2 with meth since it let the timing stay in the run.

I'm still amazed at the power/et you're getting with that combo....pretty impressive.

KP.. by the sounds of it you are not happy with your times. BUT they are damn good for temps being in mid-80's and you are run A2A. Your 60' are very good - if as you say the track was not all that well prep'd. You'll get it together. 8's are right around the corner. You almost got the magically 150 a couple times.

What tires are you running right now? We became big believers in the new M/T street Drag Radials this weekend.

Good luck. Oh by the way we run A2W on almost all of our cars. IAT's never went above 80* all day with temps in the mid to upper 80's at the track.

I agree with KP.. I would do the 75 shot... Much better gains and pretty much 8's for sure if the car is tuned properly..

Yeah, Kevin doesn't know what a bad 60' is. I'd kill for 1.3x short times. I'd be well into the 9's with that!

Good job Kevin!

Rock'n & Rolling along.

Figure in some good air, that 8 sec time slip would be real close.

Spinning the tires doesnt mean its making power, it just means the track prep wasnt that good. Letting go of the trans brake with the IATs at 60 degrees and 100 degrees is a huge difference. It wasnt really smoking the tires, just spinning them 10-15' out then grabbing hard. You can even see it pick the front tires back up 20 or 30 feet out sometimes. A good solid hook and cold IATs = the 1.24 60 foots the car runs in the winter

NavyDavid, I'm not that that disappointed really, just sucks to spend a whole day and a couple hundred dollars and not run as well as you expected. I just figured ~3psi more and 700' less elevation then a couple weeks ago would have done better but if you cant hook you cant hook. I probably should have turned the 2 step back up since it was getting better as the night went on but the last pass the car was in the trailer and they made one last call to the lanes and I just rolled it out and made one last one, it hooked decent that time but leaving off the 2-step at 2000rpm isnt the most exciting leave.

John, it weight the same as it did the last time.

MM, there was a turbo mustang there last night and he was cutting mid 1.4 60 foots and running 8.80s. If you have the power you dont need the 60 foots, I dont have any power so I need a good 60'
