Who's cut their bumper for a FMIC...and what IC fit for you? And who's car is this?
Im pretty sold on cutting my license plate area out but I want to keep my fogs. So, it looks like I have to get a narrower IC (18x12x4 or 24x12x4) instead of the common 32" one that fits nicely inbetween that metal support. That way the fog openings arent obstructed.
So, im interested in seeing pics of your setups. I really like the latest idea where the filler panel is cut out for a mesh grille and fit into place. So who's car is this:
That grille looks slick. Where can I find quality mesh?

That's my car. The mesh is from one of those black metal trash cans you find at an office supply store like Staples. It holds it's shape really well. I did one for our race car too. I do have the large 4" OBX intercooler, the foglight brackets have to be modified to fit. They have to come forward a couple inches or so (notice how they don't sit quite as deep in the holes).

All look great guys! I think i'm going to open up my front end once i get my car back from W2W. Can some of you also post some pictures of the front bumper off to show how far back/up your IC is mounted? I might move mine up a bit but not sure where all yours are mounted. Thanks!

Has anyone checked their IAT temps before and after doing this cutting? My intercooler is mounted back and at a slight angle like the radiator and hangs down ever so slight. You cannot see it at all, which is the look I was going for. The airflow is similiar to the radiator airflow. It was about 75 degrees the other day and I was showing 96 degrees IAT doing some highway pulls. Sadly, I need a front plate in MA.
My thought was to cut out behind the plate and then angle the plate forward to direct air into the IC, but I am not sure if it is worth the trouble?

Just what i was lookin for. Can you guys with those setups post more pics and info about things like fog lights, where the FMIC sits exactly and what size you went with.
Heres my thoughts:
Flipping a wide IC upside-down so that the diagonal tanks slope upward, giving more clearance down where the foglights are. I took off the bumper today and took measurements. It seems that if you wanna leave stock fog brackets, that you have to use an IC with a 18" core to fit inbetween the fog openings (overall size can be about 20" max). Heres a pic to give an idea. The box inside there is exactly 18x12x6

I think im gonna take a similar approach like Frost did. Get a 18x6x4 core then get end tanks one on top and one on bottom.
Basically this but with the top tank reversed. This would fit inbetween the fogs but still be big enough for 550+rwhp.

I think im going to get a vertical core (18x8x4) and then weld up my own end tanks
Whats a good way to cut off the existing tanks? Are they just T6061 aluminum pieces welded together?
