Default Stall question...need to get this right

The TH400 with a RMVB and TB is being built as of today.

The guy doing the work also does awesome converters as well and will rework my PI vigilante to work with the TH400.

Now I need to know, what should I ask him to do to the converter.

The car will see minimal street use. Being turbocharged, do I want it tighter or looser? Should I stick with the stall range that it is now..3800 or should I go lower/higher.

Just wanting this to come out right this time around.

Jer.

I talked to the guys a Yank in detail about the same thing. The got me a 11" billet SC3000 verter. Its on a TH400 RMVB trans. Its tight on the street, but come alive when the boost hits. At the track leaving off the t-brake its awesome. I really cant say enough about how happy I am with the verter.

If you have a brake you want it tight.

My chance acted like a stock stall on the street and if I floored it from a dead stop I probably would have run over a second slower than building boost up on the transbrake so that tells you how tight it was. I struggled to get around 4200 rpm's on the transbrake with about 10 lbs of boost max. That was throwing some serious timing into it so that it got up on boost very fast. I couldn't have got to 4500 rpm's on the brake if I wanted to and I still had traction troubles with the 3-speed and 4.10's in the rear.

Tight is the way to go. My original Vig was too loose and I was pushing through it. I had them make it 3 steps tighter then it was previously. I think it's a 10.5" unit, but I'm not 100% sure. I can tell you that N/A it stalls to 3000 RPMs on the transbrake and at 10psi it's 4000-4200 rpms but doesn't go much higher with more boost. I leave on 5psi due to traction problems around 3500 rpms.

On the street it's very tight. 45mph = < 2000 rpms. I don't ever have to go over 2500rpms to keep up with normal stop and go traffic when accellerating.

cool cool, keep it coming guys. I'm all ears about all opinions about this.

So far keep it tight, which is what the tranny guy said too. I just want to be ultra sure. I hate pulling the tranny out

Stall speed I know is combo dependant, but what would be a comfortable stall for a 348ci, 76mm with either 3.23's or 3.73's. I do run a big cam but I have the option to go to a smaller cam if need be.

Oh yeah, should I also need a 2 step with the TB?

With the 4l60e I could footbrake it to 5psi with the PI and aggressive timing with this TC76MPS.

Can't believe i'm going to a TH400 now....might as well pull out unneed stuff like the heater/ac box on the firewall, gut the interior LOL...
