1,000+rwhp & 6-speed
Has anyone here done it? I want to do this and all everyone can do is lecture me about how it's stupid and everything will break and can't be done. All I ask is that those of you that have done it or gotten close, what was your experience? What mods to your T56/what clutch? This is something I may take to the 1/4 mile occasionally for fun, not a dedicated weekend warrior. <--that is what people forget.

I say if thats what you really want then go for it. MightyMouse (now auto), Tiago, Intmid8 & 2000 Trans Am are amongst the high hp 6-speed group, so it can be done.
Im going auto for consistency and overall cheaper in the long run to build and maintain.

I think 1000 RWHP can be done on a 6 speed, mainly because you will have NO TRACTION! You will definately need a seriously built T56 (RPM comes to mind) and a triple disc clutch (Exedy ($$) or a Textralia). With 550 RWHP, my Exedy twin lasted 22,000 miles with one drag strip outing on street tires. You say that you are using it as a street car and going to the track occasionally. From experience (with 550 RWHP on 335 Pilot Sports), you probably wont like it on the street with that much power. I think 550-600 is probably the most, as that is fun with more than enough tire spin. At 1,000 RWHP, wou will probably spin the tires to or past 100 MPH and either break your rear or spin all the way down the track if your car is not a dedicated drag car. This is just my $.02.

BBM98C5-Thank you for your advice. But if I was going to build a 600 horsepower street car, I wouldn't be asking these questions. Everyone here knows 1,000 rwhp is overkill..that's why we want to do it. The car will prob. end up mini-tubbed with DRs for the street.

although not a camaro, nmy car makes over 1000rwhp and is a blast to drive on the street you will definitley need a good trans, after trying about every 5 and 6 spd out there the only one that hold for me and INTMD8 are the G-force t56's.We both run a mcloed steet twin clutch and usually get about 2 seasons before the require a rebuild.I say press on reguardless of what everyone else tells you it is streetable power with the right suspension and tires.

Yeah both my cars are making Over 800 and the orange one will soon be doing more I am still 6 spd in both I know you are asking about 1K rwhp but just thought I'd throw in my experience so far. I am running the Texrailia Triple disc in both I really love the clutch it can be aggressive if you haven't practiced with it and the pedal feels real close to stock. I am also running a Viper out put and cryoed/micronite polished internals with a stock imput shaft on the orange car with out any real issues yet. Yeah Lingenfelter had a C6 do a 1038rwhp though a 6 spd also so you are not asking anything that we haven't been asking for a while just some of us are getting there a little slower than others. I like shifing myself also.

My vette will soon be right at 1k rwhp. Just a normal built up tranny and twin disk mcleod. All of the big 1,200-1,500rwhp vipers run the same clutch, so that should tell you what clutch to run! Just don't miss gears and you'll be fine. And w/that much power, you don't need to power shift the car to go fast, the hp will get you there plenty quick. And yes, once you learn how to drive the car, it is streetable. It's just a different ball game and feathering is an art you will/should soon learn!

700RWHP and 1000RWHP all feels the same on street because all you going to do is spin if its a street car. Just my opinion based on experiance and a couple of freinds turbo f-body's as well.
