Default Putting together my first FI car, have some ???

Just like to say im very excited about my new build. Im picking up my turbo kit this sunday from another member. Its nothing crazy for now, just a single precision 67 trim turbo kit. Im buying my tuners boost motor and just had some basic question before i get started. I plan on running about 14 pounds because i think thats all the turbo will do.

The motor is a 8.6:1 forged 347, is that compression to low for my boost levels right now? Running 241 heads with lots of port work and bigger valves.

Im going to be running a 224/228,595.on a 115lsa,what do you think?

Also,my tuner said spraying a 35 shot into the intercooler would really help out. He had mentioned he could just tune it slightly richer for the spray. Any comments on this would be great.

My fuel system is a racetronix pnp with 97-98 fuel rails with return and boost referenced regulator on rail with a hotwire kit. Is that enough?

Thanks for any help.
Kinda new to the world of FI

i would throw another pump in there and maybe switch to 60lb injectors just to be safe, also look into running meth instead of an intercooler shot.

Oh ya i am going to be running 60s. My only problem with meth is that if you run out your car could detonate or run lean. Im going to a turbo so i dont have to worry about refilling something in order to go fast. That why i was thinking of a very small shot,it would be tuned so if i dont spray it will just run slightly richer.

That is like duct taping the spare onto the side of a blown tire. It would really help, but for how long.

Using nitrous to help cool the intake charge has been used before, but make sure your tuner knows his stuff. Mixing power adders complicates things a lot. If the tune is nailed down to use the two, then really need to be used all the time. If the tune can not compensate( sp?? ) so when the nitrous is not being used, the car will run very rich. Running a car too rich is just as bad as running too lean.

My advice, make sure your tuner really knows his stuff about this before going down this route.

I dont think it would be a big deal to run it all the time because its such a small shot. My tuner has done this in the past and is very confident in his tuning. Any other comments on the setup would be great. Would the vic junior intake work well with this street setup.

as long as you have atleast a 3'' FMIC i wouldnt worry about such a small shot.... if you want spray make it worth it... do atleast a 75 shot or nothing.... just have him tune it for boost... dont worry about spray just yet... like others said "it makes it more complicated." until you get used to random **** getting hot/overheating, hose clamps breaking, silicone popping off and other random crap... i'd leave it as simple as possible..

Are you going to run a FMIC? I might be swapping out to a different one, I'm routinely running 20-26psi and my current one might be better suited to a 600-700rwhp car.

i personally like the idea of nitrous on a boosted motor we have done it before with LOTS of success.. hell my car will have 2 kits on it.. ones a small 50ish ones a 125.. but both are wet so they don't effect my tune.. i'll use the fuel jet to make it run nice and fat on spray.. and meth for the rest of the time.. but the ability to still make killer power out the gate by hitting a 125 shot.. and most times in a big stalled auto you won;t acheive full boost in first as the gears gone too fast with not enough load.. then when 2nd hit kill the 125 kit and come in with the smaller 50.. the torque picked up would be incredible.. and i bet with the addition of meth IAT's would be far below ambient..

Anyone else think that turbo might choke at 14/15 psi on a 346?

The engine size is 347,diamond forged boost pistons, hell fire rings, eagle h-beam rods, stock crank that has been knife edged and balanced to 8k. Should be around 8.6:1. my power goals with this turbo setup up are in the mid 600s. Its a stalled auto with a 9 inch on a mustang dyno. I needs to run on pump gas that is important to me. Im sure the bug will bite after a season and ill go to twin turbo setup but for now this is what im working with. I am running a FMIC its good to 650wrhp. It is 3".
