Default Vortech Supercharger - Anybody running one? Thoughts????

Anybody got a V9 Trim with an aftercooler. I don't know much at all about these kits and can buy a used one right now. Will it compare to the procharger in numbers, reliabilty, etc. All help is very much appreciated!

I just traded in my 99 WS6 for a 99 SS with a vortec supercharger on it and I am very glad that I did. The car is completely stock right now except for the supercharger (and all the parts that came in the kit) and it dynoed at 428 hp and that is only at 6 lbs of boost(the guy at the shop that did the supercharger said that my car was a freak of nature because he has hardly any cars break over 400 hp on the smaller pulley). I already got the ls6 manifold, headers, and cam lined up but havent had time to put them in. I have heard with the vortec systems that it isnt that good to run large amounts of nitrous though them so I am also looking into a Methanol/water kit (snow performance). My ws6 with slp loudmouth exhaust, bellows, slp airlid, and throttle body ran 13.4 at the track with crappy tires on it and the ss with the vortec ran 12.1 with crappy tires. I love it .

My Vortech ran GREAT and was reliable as hell I liked No2 also lol! They are great cause you can get them cheap, but you are limited to 550-600 if you do all the supporting mods H/C meth I made 601RWHP on a 346/7 motor. If you are going to build your bottom end and expect to make 600+ then a Procharger D1 is what you ought to look at I wouldn't even mess with a P1 as the Vortech iw way cheaper and makes comperable power all day long. JMO.

I'm not sure about the v9 but I think the ysi is very comparable to the D1. It seems both brands are very good, I'm not sure why this site is so bias towards prochargers but I do love mine.

Thats what I thought about the vortech as long as you are happy on 500rwhp, in which I don't want to exceed. If a person has plans of upgrading in the future obviously he will be spendig alot of cake on EVERYTHING, not just the motor. So what is the cost of getting a bigger head unit thrown in there, really! I also like the 'In Your Face' kind of look they offer. Especially the polished version.

RMCR makes a T trim/YSI trim kit to adapt, I believe its around 3 grand.

I would love to put a T trim on mine its the one thing my car needs to run with the ATI-D1's.

Making 6psi, was that the stock pulley you had on, think its a 4"? Or was it a larger one? I am wondering because if I get this kit I am going to cam it and only want to run between 5-6psi max(500rwhp). I would like the motor to run stock as long as possible without ripping everything else apart. I know eventually it will happen, but to prolong its life is all I want to do. Plus I know that this amount of power will take a while for myself to were off. I love the ponies but I am not fortunate speed demons like most on here. I wish I was born in the states for that reason. In second thought........ we do have beer thats moonshine to most Once I get a motor then 12psi+ here I come

I am sorry, I wrote that wrong, I have the stock, larger pulley, the one that comes with the kit built for the 5-6 psi. I love it but and for under a hundred bucks I think you can upgrade the pulley to make way more boost.

I thought that the stock one that came with the kit was 8psi, didn't know that vortech had a pulley with the kit to run 5-6psi. This I like because thats all I want to run as well

I am not positive but I believe the non-aftercooled version comes with a 6lb. pulley. I know mine (aftercooled version) comes with the 9lb pulley stock.

Lol, I guess the vortechs must be a lot quieter than the prochargers because you don't have to see the boost guage to know it's supercharged, you can hear it a block away. I love how it sounds, just hard to get money races when your camming and whistling.

Doesn't help when you got a big *** FMIC that is impossible to miss either. My other car has one and thats one of the first things that everybody notices first

Mine is much quiter then any other vortec supercharged car that I have ever heard. Idling you wouldnt even be able to tell that it is supercharged. A guy I met at a car show is running the same system with the smaller pulley, headers and cam and it can be heard a block away. My car only gets loud when its high rpm.

God must not want me to get a Vortech kit because this is the second kit that fell through on me in one week No worries, found a D1 kit atlas! Also a built 60-e and 12 bolt that I hopefully can snag, as my stock stuff might just not do the trick anymore? Hopefully all go's well with this deal
