Default Reasons for the skirt of a piston breaking?

My buddy has a built forged internals EVO IIIV and i cant figuer out why the skirt of a piston would break/shatter.... We were just cruzing at 75mph on the high way and POOFF!

The pistons are made by Ross, if that helps

I'm sure it's not a stroker, but aren't those hard on the skirts?

i should correct myself it is not a "stroker" its stock displacement but forgered internals.

So detonation could cause the skirt to shatter

Detonation will cause among other things ring lands to break on a piston, bent rods etc. I would think some things to look at (even though it's a computer controlled car)is your tune, fuel trim tables or possibly a bad injector. One of the piston manufacturers had a good description of improper combustion and the effects of, if I find it I'll try to post it.
