Default YSi compressor map.

Someone posted looking this a while back, but at that time, i could only find the YS.

This appears to be the YSi from CAPA's site.

Questions...

Why does it stop at 50krpm, when Vortech say themselves, that it is safe to 65k ?

Maybe Im wrong...but given where max efficiency is, and the lowish rpm's it appears to be in....doesnt this appear to be a quite small blower ?

Would any LSx users, or indeed most spin their blowers below 40k ?

Ar am I trying to read it totally wrong ? ( quite possible )

When I had my 382 running, for example at 6000rpm 4th gear, I would have been spinning 58,500 rpm making about 18.5psi
7000rpm would be closer to 68k, and 20.5 psi ( logging from 149mph pass )

So where does this leave me ??

Is the blower just too small ? Im not making anywhere near the power the unit should be capable of ?

Stevie,

Even on their old YS map it only shows 55K, and their old 10Oct2000 sc matrix with the YS clearly shows it going to 65K with max efficiency rpm at 60K, so it looks as if someone was concentrating on the efficient sections of the map as opposed to the higher rpm.

I think it's correct and since most people's use line goes up and to the right, the YSi shows that it would stay in a more efficient zone for a longer period of time and through a wider load zone than the old YS.

I'd sure like to see the rpm and efficiency lines extended in the chart through to the max useable areas, though.

Have you done the calculations so you can plot your line on the chart?

Jim

PS I don't know if you saw my comments on your car in the recent Cog Belts for the Street thread, but I am impressed with your car and am a 4DR brother. If I get anywhere close to your numbers, I'll be thrilled!
