Well, thanks to 2000TurboVert, I might be getting an STS turbo system...what do all of you think of them?

Will it work with my Hooker catback? If I read right, it replaces the muffler, so will my aftermarket catback cause any problems?

Thanks!

The whole thing, or just the muffler?

I swear I've seen cars with STS running aftermarket exhaust.

I had a Hooker catback. Just removed the muffler and did some welding. The remainder of the HCB (the pipe) is still on the car.

You could probably still retain the tailpipe sections - but custom fab will be necessary as the turbo is located diferently.

Exact reason why I will never have an STS - not getting rid of my excellent sounding GMMG catback for a rear mount hairdryer - now front mount style is another thing...

How do you have yours mounted? I have the XR-1 too, but I just mounted it after the turbo. I hate the way it looks right now. Looks like a big ricer fart can, even though it sounds pretty good.

I put it just after the curve back, removing the rear-most section of the STS pipe. I tucked it under the fenderwell as best as I could, then put a turndown pipe after that. You can see a part of the muffler if you get down and look under the car. Otherwise it looks and sounds like a catback exhaust with a single tailpipe.
If you want pics, PM me your email address and I will send you some (after I take them, of course).

I would not go over 10 lbs of boost, or 500 HP, My car has stock bottom end and 90,000 abused miles....still runs like a champ at 8 lbs. I am TRYING to kill it to justify a new motor....LMAO....it won't die

My engine is completely stock with the exception of the 52mm tb (I have an LT1). You do need to do a few upgrades, such as a fuel pump, wires, plugs, and gauges. It is difficult to find any other bolt-on that gives you instant 125+ hp and retains 100% stock driveability, with no bottles to fill. BTW, I have had mine for around 3 years, and I love it.
