turbo/procharger with a carb ?
got a 408 going into a 68 camaro, i have everything i need to to efi but considerd going with a carb. does anyone have any input on this or past experiences? the set up will either have a 88mm turbo or a f1r charger.i guess my fear is not knowing how to tune a fast system but i have had/have other procharger/carb set ups and i have never delt with a turbo.

Lot of guys use a blow through carb with blowers/turbos, you have to use a carb made for it though. You see it more on race cars, if its a street car I would do the EFI to be honest. Using a carb has the advantage of some intercooling effect when the air and fuel mix and it is pretty simple once its dialed in but the EFI will be easier to tune once you learn it. I'm an old carb guy but once you get a handle on the EFI stuff its hard to beat really, especially on a forced induction car.

My old setup was a blow through carb Procharger setup.
I am pretty good with carbs, but what a PITA.
If I only had back all the hours of wasted time tuning it
my new build would be done by now!
I live in a northern climate, and it was impossible to stay ahead
of the weather changes with the tune.
For every hour of driving it seemed to take two hours of tuning.
For a race car it is not a big deal to adjust the WOT part of the tune,
but the driveability is not even in the same ballpark as EFI.
Go EFI right out of the gate, you will thank yourself later!

If you are in a warmer climate the tuning is not as bad.
This site is a great source of info for going EFI.
It is easy to leave the WOT a little on the rich side to keep it safe,
but I was never impressed with the street manners.
The pump shot and squirter size needed to be HUGE, especially
after installing the intercooler.
I am done f-ing around with the carb.
I have so little time to mess with the car these days.
Once the initial tune is done, I will be able to drive the car much
more often.
