What Turbo?
I have a 72 scout with an 01 5.3L that I am strongly considering putting a turbo on
What I want is more low end power but i dont want to spend 5k for a roots blower and I also dont want to gear down any lower than I already am because I have a TH400.
I want an increase in power and torque as low as possible, as far as top end goes I am happy with the power it has but wouldnt mind if it went up as a result. i guess i would like to end up with roughly 400-450 ft/lbs but I dont really know what turbo i should use to achieve this
Would something like this supply enough air for what i want?
T3 T4 T04E Turbocharger .63 A/R Turbo CIVIC EX B16 New

thanks for the help

i have plenty of room to put it above and behind my motor or on either side up high

4x4 for torque… well, if I had a choice I’d adapt an eaton, wipple, kb… blower to it. Basically, that way torque output and boost will be proportionate to throttle position anyplace there is a load on it.
If you must use a turbo, I’d keep it on the small side to make sure that it spooled quickly, something like a pair of medium size T3’s, or something in the range of a T61 sized with a turbine almost as small as you’d use for a rear mount.
