Default Big Boost(25+psi) Big Power(900+rwhp) & 400+ci - What Cam?

How big of a cam should I go with reach that 1000-1100rwhp mark on a big boosted application. Looking at 25+psi of boost on a carb style intake and cathedral port heads spinning to 7500 or more

Are we talking 240 duration range or 250+ duration?

What about lift? Is it going to help to have a cam with .650+ lift or stick to the .600 to .620 range

you really don't need a huge cam at all to make big power on a Poocharger. i would stick in the 230s-low 240's max and right arould .600". it really depends on the drivability and power curve you want out of the car. what trim blower are you going with?

if it were me, and it was a street-strip car, i would go with a mid 230s cam.

LMAO man WTF is a poocharger? Is that a new type of forced induction? I need to check into that . Wonder how much boost I can safely run on one of those poochargers. You don't wanna run to much boost on the poocharger cuz you might blow an o ring and the motor might ****. I know it was a accident but damn thats funny. Laughed for a good 10 minutes.

try the EPP forced induction cam I beleive its 232/240 .6xx/.6xx 115LSA and there are a few on here that run it successfully with s/c and turbo's. I am going with something similiar in my 408/turbo build this winter

I have yet to figure out why people ask this question. There is NO straight up correct answer.

Call one of our turbo/sc sponsors. Tell them what your goals are. They will order you the correct cam. Also, don't believe all the crap about "you don't need a big cam" to make power. BS. A small cam may get you some boost. You may not need it, but it surely doesn't hurt either. I DON'T consider mine large by any means. I believe that the head/cam choice I made has allowed me to get low 9's on 10lbs of boost. CHOOSE WISELY!! and just call W2W or LS1Speed and get it done right the 1st time.

Driveability is mostly in the tune not the cam. Tuners often use that as an excuse for not being able to get a car to drive good. My last cam in my nitrous 347 motor was a 244/254 644/654 on a 112 and drove and idled great.

mine is 238/238 585/585 116lsa. I got it because it was in the range i was looking for and a good deal used. Is it ideal for max power output? i am sure it isnt it but it idles and drives well with my 3.08 gears and tight converter and performs well at the track. There are so many variables that your question needs to be answered by a cam expert. Also you really need to see where your priorities fall for street/track/idle/lope etc
