Default only getting 7lbs with 14 pound spring????

Wtf. I just swapped out my 5 pound spring for the 14 to get ready for my tune on saturday. Now i didnt go full throttle yet because of the lack of tune but im only seeing 7lbs. Do i have to go full throttle to get full boost. Im in 2nd at like 4k and it just stops dead at 7. What is going on.

Anyone else think this is wierd? Just kinda freaked out because i have my tune tomorrow and dont want to be runnig short. Its kinda a catch22 becasue i cant test the system at full throttle untill i get it tuned.

If yor tuned for seven lbs, then you need to get it to push past that before the retune. recheck it all for leaks. I left my valve seat out of my wastegate and ruined a trip to the track once. Let us know what you find.

I'd just go to the dyno with the 14 lb spring. My car would make full boost at part throttle if I was going like 190mph.

14lb spring is good for 28lbs. The norm I think is double the spring rate. Boost also depends on load....

Want to be safe go get a few gallons of race fuel (110min) and get give it a few hits

Right now the car isnt tuned at all. Its running off a emailed base tune just to break in the motor. Its just running off the mass air flow right now. What would my complaint be if the wastegate diaphram was ripped? If i have the 14 spring in with no contoller just wastegate hooked up to turbo shouldnt i see 14 max?

You might want to recheck your connections to the BOV; maybe a reference line came off?

okay,i took it down the highway. In 3rd gear at about 4k 1/2 throttle it was at 9lbs. I didnt go any further because the wideband was readking 15:1 and going up. Its only running on a mass air right now so i think its really maxed out. But at least i know the boost is going up.

It wasnt really a mail order tune. My tuner just emailed me somthing just to drive it around and break in the motor with no intentions of going past 5lbs of boost. I just wanted to make sure the turbo setup was working. It will get a real tune tomorrow morning and we will be able to turn the wick up a little.

assuming you are going to tune 2 or 3 bar it will not really matter

I would square the tune away on what ever boost it makes tomorrow and then you can change the spring if needed. The tune should then be good with more or less boost if setup properly.

good luck

EDIT Sat: I forgot to say you are crazy for getting into boost. I would not being doing anything seeing boost & over 12.1 A/F with a brand new combo I'm sure you worked your *** off to pay for and build. 15.1

GL again on your tune today...post results

Your not going to see boost unless you are under load, for the most part. Leave it until you get it tuned, you will be fine.

I went to the dyno and it would go to 13pounds and then drop down to 4lbs right at 4800rpm. i found that the diaphragm in the wastegate was ripped. Im having a hard time understanding if a ripped diaphragm would do this. I though it would see full turbo boost with a ripped diaphram due to the spring never being able to go down. Can anyone explain this.
