Default Could a bad bov ruin a turbo???

Ive been haveing alot off issues with my new kit lately. I have a couple of other posts going on right now. I just realized that the blow off valve was never working at all. Could not having a bov ruin a turbo? I have been letting off suddenly alot and it would make a pigeon type noise when the throttle would close

I had the car on the dyno with the air fitler off the turbo, i was under the car and when he let off the gas suddenly the turbo is making a fluttering noise and air is actually coming out and going back in the inlet of the turbo really fast. Is this normal?

People say it will cause abormal wear on the turbo due to the sudden increase of charge backpressure at the compressor which could load the bearing in the turbo a different way than it was designed.

That noise is quite normal in a setup where there is no dump valve. OE turbo cars ran like this for years, with no major problems.
Depends how much boost, and how strong the turbo is itself, as to whether it will do any damage.

I doubt it hurt the turbo. GN's don't come with them and my old one ran 16-20lbs on the street without a blow off.

While there's a good chance nothing was hurt at all, there'd be no point to having a part on your car for nothing.

Did you figure out what's wrong with it?

Some say that it could cause abnormal wear on the turbo, however, this theory has never been proven to be true. What you heard on the dyno was just pressure surge, which isn't a huge deal. I'm sure your turbo is fine.
