Default Any one else get a new best at Byron this weekend?

The air must have been great and the track was hooking, unfortunately I didn't take advantage of it. I ran into all kinds of problems, only had 1 decent pass out of 4. Blew my intake pipe off the TB my first 2 passes and ran 14s lol. I had guys coming up to me and asking me all kinds of questions, it was embarrassing. Then my third pass I totally blew the tires off, whacked the rev limiter a few times and then let out. Got back in it and still got my new best mph of 129. Now that I knew the power was back, I had to work on my 60' with only time for one more pass. I ended up babying it off the line but was able to keep traction, run my new best ET and kill my previous best mph even though I was on the limiter the last 100'. I think I ran out of gear. I ended up running a 10.39 @ 136 with a 1.88 60'. Not bad for a stock bottom end and a stock 4l60e. The car has 60ed in the 1.5s before so I think the car is capable of 9s. I'm not going to try it though until I put in a th400 and a FI stall. For those that are not familiar with my set-up, check sig. Overall it was a frustrating day at the track but ended well.
Here's the vid, you can see how bad my launch was and listen for the rev limiter at the end, I'm surprised I didn't do any damage.

Nice run! Seems like you might be able to use a little more of a burnout??

Since you're rolling the dice with that combination anyway swing by and I'll bump the rev limiter up a few hundred rpm.

I've got a nice TCT supercharger converter here for a T400 if you are interested, $450. It was $1095 new. It was the one I used for my 9.40 - 9.6 passes. Time times, looks like you have easy 9's in the car.

Thanks Jim. Maybe I should bump it up a couple hundred and see if I can get that 9 second slip. I wonder if I would be the first in the 9s with a stock 4l60e and stock block?

Thanks John, I don't have the cash right now but I might contact you over the winter to see if you still have it. What stall is it? Did you end up going to Byron this weekend? I'm not sure what you look like but I might have seen you out there.

congrats on what you did run. Man I have had those days at the track where everything goes wrong.....makes the good nights really sweet! At least you know you got a lot of et left in it without upping power with just a 60' improvement

Sorry to hear that. I got lucky I was able to just put the pipe back on and tighten it with a screw driver, nothing actually broke.

Thats the grove, right? If I was to go again before winter, I would try to go there for a couple night passes. I just don't know if I want to go through the hassels of a trailor again, I don't trust the tranny enough to drive it to the track anymore. Saturday was my first time trailoring it and I gotta say, it sucked! My car sits too low and it was getting caught on everything on the stupid trailor I rented, even did some damage to my front bumper

Yes I had a good day.

You had a nice run, but I have to agree with Jim, you need a better burnout. Wait until you see smoke coming off both tires and then let it roll out. Congrats!

Yeah, I forgot to comment on the burnout thing. Weak, I know. I actually wasn't even going to do one that pass because I thought that might be when I was blowing my intake pipe off. My first two passes I smoked them pretty good and then ran 14s lol. So I wanted to just take it easy and make sure I had a clean issue free pass. I wasn't planning on launching hard and I didn't get any wheel spin. Now if I want that 9 second slip, I'm going to have to light them up and launch a lot harder.

I was up there saturday too, but I wasn't an FI car. I did end up getting a new best of 9.36 @ 147, but that was at a pig rich 9.5:1 AFR. I also had a problem with my brake fluid boiling and pushing out of my strange master cylinder Brake fluid makes for alot of smoke

Your car did sound mean, and it looked like you had some traction issues

That was a shakedown pass on the 200 shot. Ive got some fine tuning to do on the suspension to keep the front wheels a little closer to the ground
