Default Trying to decide 347 or 383 with my D1, need your input

Like the title says I'm trying to decide on which to go with when I do a forged lower half. So please post up your RWTQ at 3000rpm, 4000rpm, & 5000rpm along with what cubes, cam, heads, & boost. You MUST have a centri blower thanks

Currently I'm at:
All stock motor w/D1 @ 10psi
3000=380rwtq
4000=450
5000=490

This is a good idea for comparisons.
Stock 346 F14 cam, untouched lq4 317 truck heads D1-SC @ 13 psi

I plan to stay small/347 and up the boost to 17-20

I would probably stay with a 347 but thats my opinion. There is alot of diffrent directions you could go. If you plan on buying a new crank I wouldnt even think about doing a 383 you might as well do a 408 the only other thing you would really need is a block. If your on a budget like most of us are use the stock crank and block and put a good set of rods and pistons in it. you can make well over 600 hp with the right combo, It is also a good setup for a daily driver (torque doesnt overpower the street in the low RPM's).
good luck.
By the way I made 620 with a d1 and 347, still was running the little 3.5 inch inercoolers.

I guess I should have stated that this is just a street car so the low end is important to me, which makes the car fun driving around town.

Either way, I think you'll have more hp & tq in the lower RPM's than you can even begin to think about hooking up on the street! I ended up going the 347 route... Good luck on your decision man

I guess thats a good point.
Do you have your torque numbers at 3000, 4000, 5000 rpm?

You will max the D1sc out with the 347 - with right setup...

If you go with the bigger cubes, i suggest going with a F1a or bigger procharger (you'll eventually wanna go faster) Besides IMO the F1A sounds just sick, just sick at idle

Nice car and nice numbers.

Has he gone back to the track with the new rims and tires? Has he also done the drill mod to help with the shifting?
