what heads to get?
#2
We use Patriot Performance Stage 2 LQ9 heads ($1,285.00 pr) on a lot of our lower boosted builds. They work great up through 14 psi or so. We've pushed 16 psi with them without head gasket problems. We're using them on this car.

If you had a good turbo system where you were going to push more than 16 psi, or you want all the power that you can get at a given psi, than a set of more expensive heads will be what you want to use. AFR heads have a thicker deck surface, and will handle higher boost levels, plus they flow more CFM. At roughly $2,500.00 they are more expensive as well. Bob

wouldn't the ls1 edelbrocks be for higher compression motors i looked at terminator prc heads built from edlebrock casting from texes speed but not shure if those would be good with boost

My last time at the track with my Dart's I hot lapped it and it did pushed very little water! But if I had not hot lapped it ,they would of been fine! After that I changed over to the new gm 5 layer gasket and had no problem's up intil I got the AFR's. I drive my car really hard whenever i am in it. It has no rest time, except when it is in the garage! For the Dart's I would use them if you are not planning on goin over 700rwhp without o-ring's. O-ringing them and you can make more hp,without problem's. The only reason I switched to AFR's is for the thicker deck and they are cnc'ed ported,so i can turn up the boost more without water issue'shopefully.

I have been running 18lbs. for awhile now with the Dart's.The AFR's are so I can go higher in boost/hp. The dart's do have the thinnest deck height available, about the same as stock head's I believe, but the material they use is supposed to be better to compensate for it?
