Default 1000hp FMIC

Looking for a A2A IC that will support 1000hp. Is there anyone that sells one thats ready to go? I looked on Ebay and didnt see any that will work. Or what shops will custom make one to my specs.???

Thanks - Ron

Figure over $1000 for a bare core. I would try Stenod Perfomance they have made some big FMIC setups in the past for other customers.

i've got one for sale. brand new. $800. Core dimensions are 30x13x4.5 3.5" inlet/outlet. will support 1000rwhp with ease. I can take pics if need be. Ive made 800rwhp and the IAT's never went above outside air temp even on a dyno. With the exact same IC

Now I have heard that there is a big difference between the vertical core and horzontal core... can anyone explain? Has something to do with pressure drop..

I am just running a 4" core ebay intercooler, I would really like to try a 'good' large core intercooler and see if it really helps. Pretty much no matter where I start out IAT temp wise on the line the car always picks up 60 degrees on a 1/4 mile pass with the F1A. If it starts at 60 when I let go of the TB I go through the traps at 120, if it starts out at 100 I go through at 160 no matter what the outside temp. That leads me to believe that a better core wont do a whole lot better but a BIGGER one will. I figure on a cool day if I heat the IC up to 100* messing around on the starting line it would pick up less temp along the way if it was really doing anything along the way besides being a big heat sink, and it doesnt.

On a street driven car that is constantly moving I could see a better intercooler letting it recover faster but IMO an A2A on a drag race car is just a giant heat sink - simply the more material the longer it will take to heat up during a pass. Just my take it on anyhow, could be wrong but I havent spent the 1200.00 to find out yet

Theory on verical vs is horizontal is a long horizontal IC only uses the first few inces of core to efficiently, a vertical flow has more tubes which equals less pressure drop and is supposedly more efficient at shedding heat. A while back I switched ICs to a spearco vertical core IC I bought from nineball and it picked up close to 20 degrees more on a pass then this eBay one did. But I think the core was way too small for what I am doing so I dont think it was a good test example. I'm not talking about pressure drop though, I never really measure that on any IC and I'm sure the better cores (and vetrical flow) are most likely better in that respect..

I'd really like to stay below 140 degrees even on a hot day but I hate the ice thing, maybe this winter i'll have a bigass quality core A2A built and see what happens but an air to water with ice is pretty tempting at this point

That's pretty much correct. Think about it when you take a small pipe and blow a set amount of hot air through it. It's going to heat up extremely quickly. Compare that to taking a larger pipe and blow the same amount of hot air through it. The larger pipe will dissipate the heat much quicker.
