Default Is this a gt47-88???

Hey, i am not able to get measurements at the moment since i am away at school right now but i bought a turbo off a member here who said it was a gt47-88 well some people say they think the compressor wheel is to small for a 88. I was just wondering if anyone could help me out or at least tell me what to measure. I think its the air side of the compressor wheel diameter? I know its a t6 exhaust flange, 5" v-band exahust, and a 4" compressor wheel outlet. Any opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tim

Here are my pics, some of them have a yardstick next to the turbo:

Simple way of telling, a true GT47-88 is a 6 blade compressor wheeled unit and 10 blade turbine wheel unit. I'm pretty sure I know what unit you have since I just talked to Jose. He said that unit uses a 7 blade comp wheel and 11 blade turbine and is not a GT47 like the one you see in PSJ's album. He said it probably has the larger 1.23-1.45A/R housing off a DD.

Alright thanks for the info. Yea it has 7 compressor blades, and he said the a/r was .96, so looking at johns which is a 1.08 i would say my exhaust housing is larger. So what kind of turbo is this and should i contact the seller saying that i want my money back? Do you have any info on it or anything? Thanks again, TIm

And thanks for the pics john. Tim

Its a TV based turbo off a Detroit diesel. Manufacture date would have been around 1981-1987 or so. Pretty old unit and doesn't spool to fast. As for GT47....I would tell him he is false advertising that turbo. Nothing GT47 about it...other then its big.

Damn well thanks for the info, i guess it wont work at all then. I have contacted the seller and he has good trader feedback and has been here since 2004 so hopefully everything will work out. Thanks, Tim

Some of them do alter in the look, but the blade counts are the same.

Thanks for the support, well he responded to my pm's and he said that he doesn't have the money to refund me right now but he is going to contact who he bought it from since he was told it was a gt47 88. I really hope he is not just going to give me the run around either. So i guess we will see what happens i just cant afford to loose $1300, that would probably cancel the build since im still in school and need to pay my next tuition fee soon.
