Default Cam for turbo 408

I just received my 408 and was told it had a cam built with my turbo in mind. I wanted to know if it would be ok with my STS kit using a GTS-6 on my 8.7cr 408. If not, what would be a good cam for it?

The cam specs are 224 / 231 / .595 / .595 114 LSA

sorry..but people hate cam with turbo/sc questions.

its best to call camotion, epp, comp..etc and tell them what you are looking for and they will hook you up. there are just too many variables...

good cam?
what constitutes a good cam?

need drivability? race car? powerband...yadda..yadda...

do a search and see what every1 else is running

I would think it's a little mild for a 408 but I guess if your not trying to get the most out of your set-up, it might make a nice daily driver.

Thanks, guys. I should be good to go with it.

I am hoping to put about 15PSI to the 408. My goals are to get in the 11's with my 4800lb truck.

I was told that a cam built for a turbo has little or no overlap, something about a reverse split also.

Well, 114 lsa does has some overlap, too much according to some. It will have a nice sounding idle but could be a little challenging tuning it, especially if you have an auto. But it should make respectable power in your truck. My cam was similar (a tad more duration) and my 4150lb (race wt) car ran mid 10s at 15 psi with my 402. But there is ALWAYS a better cam.....

What was the DA (or what elevation) on your mid 10 runs in your sig?

Nice times! I guess I need to put the truck on a diet, lol.

I was asking because the 408 is not in yet but the 5.3 is already out so I could change the cam out really easy right now.

Our tracks are around 500' here, but the DAs run high, like 2000'+ normally. But my car ran very consistent with the blower. It used to change by as much as 2/10ths NA with the temp fall & DA improvement as it got later. But with the s/c it ran within a 10th all day (provided it still got traction).

When I went to Neveda to run the Open Road Race I did notice a drop in power. The elevation there was around 6,000', and while it would still blow the tries away anywhere in 1st gear @ WOT, it wouldn' roast them from a 70mph roll like it does here.

Anyway, I'd call Bob or Jake at EPP & ask them about cams. They have a few grinds that are proven to make power. If my tuner didn't know someone at Cam Motion (i.e. I have a custom cam) I would be running an EPP cam....
