Default Help with turbo sizing

Hey guys, I am looking for some help sizing a turbo for myself. But this is slightly different than most threads around here because I have a budget I want to stick to and I also don't insanely high power either. The engine right now is a stock LT1 with a cc306 in it and the turbo kit is a reworked PTK setup. I know the cam is not optimal but its whats in the car for now. Later I will be going to a 355 with about 8.5:1 or so compression, ported stock heads, ported intake, and a 218ish cam. Car will be mostly a street car and run ONLY on pump gas and NO meth. As far as power ultimately I don't want any more than 650rwhp.

I want to stay around a grand or less for the turbo and don't need ball bearings or anything. I do want the best possible spool that I can get and want to keep the rev limiter at around 62-6500.

Right now I have a Master Power big shaft 62-1 t3 that was going to get a .96 a/r t4 housing before it went on the car. The turbo was custom made for a buddy of mine and is slightly larger than a GT4088. I am starting to doubt it being able to make the power I want it to on pump gas.

Any thoughts?

That turbo will not get you anywhere near 650rwhp. You will need something in the 70mm range to support 650rwhp and keep it during the rev-range.

I was kind of thinking that. The biggest reason I bought it was because my friend was going through a little hard time and needed the money to help out his brother. I figured if anything I should be able to resell it for about the same amount I paid for it.

Do either of you have a specific turbo that you would recommend me then? Another friend of mine (Skinnies on here who has a turbo lt1) has suggested 3 different turbos, 70gts, 76gts, and T76. I would love to go 70 or 76gts but I think cost will be a limiting factor on those 3 unless I go used..

For the price, the TC76 is the way to go. $1099 and it will make big power.

T3 tangial(sp?) housing.

Looks like I will be buying a TC76 shortly after the first of the year. Looks to be exactly what I want for right at what I budgeted for the turbo. Is it very big externally? I am just wondering about packaging in the engine bay..
