COMPLETELY switching my setup and need advice
Well I cracked a sleeve in my 383 so I have decided I'm going to step up to a iron 408. I'm also considering selling the Hi-flo turbo kit with the T76GTS and making a truck/corvette manifold twin turbo setup. I'm going to re-use my rods/crank and get new pistons. I'm looking to push 1000RWHP through a M6 with the potential to make 1100.
What brand pistons should I use? Mahle, Diamond, and Wiseco are the ones I'm thinking about.
What size turbos? Possibly twin TC66 or GT40s?
What are my hot-parts w/ T76GTS worth?
Thanks

I have Diamond pistons in mine and have had great success. If all you care about is RWHP and don't care for how it actually drives on the street, I'd just reccomend staying with a 383 and making it completly bullet proof and then going with a very high boost making Turbo that is capable of 25+#'s of boost. The larger motor will be harder to run more boost, and is more likely to give you more torque than HP.

Now, if you want 9's and 1000 RWHP, then you could probably do both pretty easy with a large Turbo setup on your 408, but I am just telling you that you don't need the cubes to get there as it is more cost effective to make the power with more boost rather than more cubes.

I'm open to other turbo suggestions for a twin setup those are just the 2 I had checked in to that would fit my requirements. Which were small packaging and power potential.

We primarily use Wiseco pistons. A shelf Wiseco would have no problem in the power range you are looking to make. I would however recommend upgrading to a tool steel wrist pin.
What happened to your old motor that you cracked a sleeve?

The aps twin kit is nice and should give you around 850rwhp no problem on a 408 size engine. Its a very complete kit and good deal if Peter has any left at 5500 freight in. It had great manifolds, nice intercooler, every nut and bolt. Not sure how much past 850rwhp it can do was thinking of going with bit of spray on top of mine for quicker spool and a bit more rwhp. This kit should hit full boost I am betting by low 3000 on a 408.

I had a small hose clamp get into my intake and into the cylinder causing the sleeve to crack. Definitely wasnt a fun day, oh well.
Right now I dont wanna split up the turbo and hotparts, but if that changes I'll let you know.
