Few passes today for the low boost fans..
Went out to make a few break in passes on the new LS2 and try to get used to the new air shifter, never had one of those and it freaks me out lol, sounds like someone hits the floor with a hammer when it shifts. Anyhow, 1700' DA, off the foot brake, pretty much no prep and no traction and a whopping 12psi (7.25/3.85 pulley) out of the D1SC shifting at 66-67000rpm, I still managed a 5.92 and a 5.94 @ 117 in the 1/8.
First pass in the vid you cant hear it well but it was breaking up bad, I just stuck some moldy old plugs in just to start/heat cycle the new engine and they didnt work too well. Put some new plugs in and that cleared right up, traction wasnt all that great but it was still nice to go out and make some blasts. Didnt get the best pass on video but you can see by the 5.94 pass that the car wasnt exactly going in a straight line, didnt feel that bad in the car but in the logs the rpm hardly dropped on the 1-2 shift, it was just spinning the tires but still ran OK. That translates to mid 9.20s in the 1/4 and that isnt bad for no trans brake and 12psi @ 1700'

Nothing too exciting but not much else going on this time of year

Good thing its a wide track..
Zero prep tracks after a couple days of rain makes for some interesting driving, I was scared to use the trans brake
I doubt I'll even put the F1A back on until fall, not sure the D1 will get in the 8s or not but I'll pulley it up and see how it will do next time or two. Need to hit the ole' house of hook soon

Nice KP I love your kids voice in the video..."I bet Dad's going to win!"
I could definitely hear the car breaking up in the first vid, that would have scared the **** out of me!
Great runs, almost makes you want to keep it on low boost

I should be able to hit 8s with the D1 in good weather with this, I think I could have done it with the 347 if I would have overspun it some. I just love the D1SC because you can hardly hear the thing
We'll hook up at SDR or something in the spring when the good weather rolls around. Where has Jerry been?

Its been closed the last month so its been a while since a car went down it, but yea its nice to have a local track be open all year. Actually it was 59 degrees and 88% humidity, wasnt that bad temp-wise but the humidity was way up and barometer was falling hard, not to mention the track is 1300' above seal level to start with..

BTW - What timing/gas were you running on 12 pounds? Are you able to put in 18-20 degrees at 12#s boost with the new setup on race gas?
#16
The timing at 12psi is like 17 degrees, the more boost goes up the more the timing goes down. I'm sure I could run more like 20-22 degrees with 112+ race gas at 12-13 psi but really it doesnt make that much of a difference. I ran 100/104 unleaded with the same timing before and it was OK, but since it costs about 20.00 more for C16 per day at the track than 100/104 unleaded gas why even take a chance.

Its just a 9.4:1 365ci LS2 with AFR 225 heads, same cam as the last one. Stock crank, howard's rods, JE pistons. Same as the old 347 with a 4" bore so its nothing really different, just fresh and supposedly the cylinder walls and deck are more stable than the LS6 block.
