Default D1 pulley size

Have a D1 procharger ready to go on with SDCE kit and was wondering what size pulley I would need to run a safe amount of boost on a stock short block?

I purchased a 4" pulley to go but fear it still may be too small. I have an F13 cam with about 6 degrees of overlap so I expect to bleed some boost but still want to limit it to a comfortable amount.

Thanks

What type of intercooler are you running?
How high you gonna spin your engine?

For stock short block, I'd stay with the 4", but thats me because i'm a little conservative. My stuff is forged and i run the 3.4" and 7.25" crank pulley and see 17psi @ 7000rpms...

EPP should chime in here shortly...

I would say about a 3.7. A 4.0 will for sure be more than safe.

I have a FMIC with the 3"" core I think. I thought 4" would be too small and thought I would need to go to 4.25 or 4.5. I don't think that would fit with the SDCE bracket and tenshioner.

Thanks guys

I have the same cam and blower. I see about 8-9psi with a 4.25 pulley. I also have ported heads. Car made 507 whp with the belt slipping. hope this helps. G

Gotta remember that the SDCE has a smaller crank pulley than the ATI. its 7.25 i think. At any rate, I make 8-9 at 6500 with a 4" pulley. I have a MTI X1 (230 on a 112 i think, dunno the overlap)

You should be okay with the 4.00" pulley with the smaller crank pulley that you have with the SDCE kit, considering the camshaft you have. I don't like to see more than 8 lbs of boost on the stock shortblock, but there are a lot of variables that affect how much boost your car is going to make, and I think you'll be there with the 4.00" pulley. I run the 3.7 (7.25 lower) on mine with a built short block and afr's and I see 14lbs of boost I think a 3.7 may be too small. I would stick with the 4 and see what that puts you at.

The ATI ProCharger 6 rib crank pulley is smaller than both the SDCE and the ProCharger 8 rib crank pulley. I believe the SDCE is 7.25 in diameter. The ProCharger 8 rib crank pulley is 7.65 in diameter. Bob
