Default Engine setup for big power??

I am kind of a noobie to LS1 engines, but I was tossing around the idea of building an f-body to drag race.

I determined that I want to run a GT55-91 single turbo setup.

The question that I have is what type of engine setup would you guys recommend to make 1200+HP? I was thinking an iron block 408.

What would need to be done to the bottom end (main girdle, cement block)? What head/cam/intake package would you recommend?

If I did do a 408 what internals are best to support the power that I want to make?

I suggest you do a lot of reading in the internal engine section and/or contact one of our sponsors. The iron block 6.0's are def tough with good forged internals. I prefer the AFR 225 heads for their thicker deck. And you would want a carb style intake.

Many will prob suggest the new LSX block.

I would either give LME (Brian), HKE, or Weber (Leo) a call..

I appreciate all of your advice, I know it is much easier to just say "search". I really appreciate you pointing me in a direction of some respected people.

Look at LMR's record setting car with the 106mm. The engine in it was built by LME and also Wormboy's motor is built by them..

Take a look at what we're using for this build, we're starting out with a Warhawk block.

Are you talking 1200 hp at the engine or at the tires? Bob

Like Shawn said im doing a few changes to what i had before....

My 1st question to you is how big is your budget for this Drag Project??
What all is done to the car right now??

The reason i ask is where talking anywhere from $25-$50K for a full on project.

Id rethink the GT55 also.... My Turbo uses some of the GT55 parts but not the weak shaft that comes in it normally.... thats part of the weak link in it...
Its a Custom unit from Forcd Inductions.
